President's Message
When my husband and I moved to Long Beach 18 years ago, we didn't have kids yet...we bought our home without looking for schools. When our kids started Fremont I knew immediately how lucky we were...like the little leprechaun who found his pot of gold, Fremont was our jackpot (and I'm not just saying that to tie in St. Patrick's Day!) I feel lucky they're in an environment where so many parents, teachers and staff care about our school and work towards our mission to provide opportunities that enhance our students' learning experience every day!
March not only reminds me of luck, but also fun events like the
Science Fair (board's are due March 16th between 7:30 and 8 am
in the cafeteria) and Family Science Night coming up on Saturday, March 19th from 4-7 pm at Fremont. This year Virgin Galactic will be joining us as well as your favorite taco truck, Taqueria de Anda. Science projects will also be on display in the cafeteria!
Don't miss this unique Fremont event.
And speaking of more luck...how lucky are we to have a talented
group of women leading the SOS fundraising effort? Sarah Gomez, Kelley Poleynard, Meka Crawford, Nellie Cooper, Kyra Gilbert and Adriana Manfredi work hard to make sure our Falcons have science
and technology in years to come and have led the charge to get
you on board too. Thank you to all of the families who have already contributed to this major school-wide campaign. Please continue
to support this tremendous undertaking...it's never too late
to donate and we couldn't do it without you!
Don't forget to join us at our next PTA meeting on Tuesday, March 8th at 6:30 pm in the school library. At the beginning we'll hear from Community Activist, Will Cullen, regarding the Port's generous donation of 100 trees for our neighborhood followed by a brief pta meeting. We'll conclude with a presentation by Jason Stone, Financial Planner, who will share financial tips, like how to save for college.
Every meeting includes complimentary childcare provided by Kids-Club on-site in the bungalows (tips are welcome), home-made refreshments by our hospitality team and if you call Dominos for home delivery, they'll give 20% back to Fremont! And don't miss the "after party" at EJ Malloy's for the late nighters!

Principal's Message
A big mahalo (Thank You) to all who are helping to organize the Support our School (SOS) fund drive. The parent support at Fremont is tremendous and is needed to help us provide the computer and science lab experience for our students. Fremont is the only elementary school in the Long Beach Unified School District that has a science lab and computer lab with a credentialed teacher providing the instruction. This is possible through the generous donations made to the SOS campaign. The Fremont students are able to have these exceptional learning experiences due to the efforts of our Fremont parents who spearhead these fundraisers and from the parents who generously support our school.
Family Science Night is Saturday, March 19th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Thank you to Mrs. Malloy and the parent volunteers who help put this wonderful event together. Science Fair projects will be on display in the auditorium and there are many great exhibits for students to participate in.
The Smarter Balanced Test will be administered to all third through fifth grade students in the LBUSD. The students will be going to the library to complete the test on the laptops. A testing schedule will be sent home during the month of March. All students will receive a report with their results during the summer.
Parents are the first teachers of our students. Fremont students are expected to read or be read to for 20 minutes a night. The students should be completing their reading logs and turning them in at the end of the month. Most of our students have learned to do the ST Math program, otherwise known as GiGi Math, on the computer. The ST Math program exposes students to grade level math concepts in a creative and unique manner. Parent support at home helps students be successful in the classroom.

Principal
