Spring is just around the corner and our calendars are quickly filling up with events!  Please be sure to check all the important dates and keep informed.  Information is readily available on our Facebook page, website, via email and of course through our school office.  We especially welcome questions from our new family parents as you get into the groove with the way we do things here at WSPA.  Don't forget that other parents are also a great resource.  Ask your class mom/dad or other parents in the courtyard as you watch classes for more information and just to say "Hi!"

We would like to wish all our performance program students all the best as they enter this intense, yet extremely gratifying season of competition and performances.  Having already found success just this last February at the Youth America Grand Prix - San Francisco Regional competition, we hope all our dancers are able to perform their best, exhibiting the fruits of all their hard work.

We would like to remind you all to keep yourselves, and your children, happy and healthy.  As flu season is coming to a close, please continue to take all the necessary precautions to keep all your loved-ones as healthy as possible and those around you.

Sincerely,
Jessica C. M. Angeles, editor/teacher

Group Pictures

Natalia and Nicholas Somma Class picture(s) will be taken the week of March 21 - March 27 1 (SATURDAY THROUGH FRIDAY).  We project some class pictures as the background for their dance at the year-end recital, so please be sure not to miss this important picture day. Pictures are usually during your routine class (there are some exceptions - please see detailed schedule here)  It is a VERY TIGHT schedule. Please come to class on time and READY for your picture. READY means complete costume, correct make up, correct tights/socks, correct shoes, hair done correctly, etc.... and remember, NO JEWELRY that is not part of the assigned costume. The school staff, faculty, or volunteer parents, will not be responsible for jewelry misplaced or lost during the photo shoot.  If you have any questions regarding what you need, please talk to the Class Mom or the Teacher.

Because we are using Studio B to take pictures, we need to do some shifting of classes. Please look under comments on the posted schedule, to see if we have moved your class into a different studio for this week. In most cases, you will meet in your Studio and come over as a class. All exceptions are noted under comments.

The class picture will be taken for the yearbook. If you wish to purchase the class picture or an individual of your child, you will need to bring CASH or CHECK (made payable to Lem Abdon) and pre-pay for the picture(s). NO INDIVIDUAL picture will be taken WITHOUT prior payment. There are different packages you may purchase - the envelopes with package prices should be available in the office the week before our photo shoot, the envelopes will also be available during the photo week.

Also, because of the limited space and distractions caused by too many people, only the class and teacher will be allowed in Studio B during the class picture. You will only be allowed to go in during the individual photo of your child.

If you have any questions regarding the schedule or Studio moves, please inquire in the office.

Thanks in advance for your anticipated cooperation in making this week go as smoothly as possible.

YAGP Recap

Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) is the world's largest global network of world-class companies, directors and teachers gathered to adjudicate aspiring students in professional ballet and contemporary dance.   Under the direction of our renowned ballet teachers training our students this year, Viktor Kabaniaev and Tina Fargas-Newell, WSPA for the 6th year, received  the Outstanding School Award at YAGP's Semi-Finals.  WSPA  also received the 1st Place Award for ALL of its ensemble routines.  A successful outcome that has happened for the third time since its participation in YAGP.

We are also very proud of the WSPA soloists who placed in the top 12 and Top 3 of their divisions.  Here they are in no particular order:

Erik Debono (17), Sabrina Yap (14), Jasmine Cruz (12), Alyssa Viray (14), Jonacy Montero (12), Ian Debono (13), Jonalyn Montero (13), Allyson Chin (10), Elizabeth Nip (10), Emily Moeller (11), Hailey Rozzano-Keefe (10), Kyawzwa Lwin (11) and Mahalaya Tintiangco-Cubales (10).
