Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

Cervical Health Awareness is highlighted every January. The purpose is to raise awareness about how women can protect themselves from HPV (human papillomavirus) and cervical cancer.

About 79 million Americans currently have HPV, the most common sexually transmitted disease. HPV is a major cause of cervical cancer.

The good news?

  • HPV can be prevented with the HPV vaccine.
  • Cervical cancer can often be prevented with regular screening tests (called Pap tests) and follow-up care.
  • A Pap test can help detect abnormal (changed) cells early, before they turn into cancer.
  • Most deaths from cervical cancer can be prevented if women get regular Pap tests and follow-up care.

Ladies start out the new year in optimal health! Changes in 2014 coverage with the implementation of the ACA include covered well-woman visits and cervical cancer screening. This means that, depending on your insurance, you can get these services at no cost to you!

If you prefer a female for your well woman visits, we now offer an all female nurse practitioner clinic at Caduceus for Women.  Use these links to read bios for each provider or to choose from our list of providers and reserve your well woman exam.

Laguna Beach Office
Caduceus Named One of
Best in 2013!

Laguna Beach's Chamber of Commerce announced nominees to its Spirit of Laguna Awards.  Caduceus on Thalia was nominated for the category, "Service of the Year."

The winners will be honored on Jan. 31 during an installation at Seven Degrees in Laguna. The staff at our Laguna office sincerely thanks our patients for continuing to support local businesses in our community!

Happy 2014 to all!  It's a new year; the slate is wiped clean; and hopefully we are all making a concerted effort to keep our resolutions.  To be sure, most of us have health related goals on the list- training for a 5K, quitting smoking, or just a more general desire to make better choices regarding our diet and overall well being.

According to a recent survey, of the 317 million adults in the US, less than half of us make a New Year's resolution. Of these, 1 in 8 will keep it for a year. Don't lose hope though!  It turns out people who make a New Year's resolution are 10 times more likely to change their lives than those who don't.
