A Message From Your Chamber Executive

Pam King
Executive Director
Grafton Chamber of Commerce
Dear Chamber Members,

As the 2015-16 Chamber year comes to a close, I would like to thank you the Chamber Board of Directors and all of our members for making my job so much fun and so rewarding!  You all allow me to serve as a conduit for businesses and organization within our community and the county which in turn helps to make Grafton thrive and grow. At this year's Annual Meeting, we honored our Outstanding Business Person, Mike Donahue, of Donahue and Associates, Outstanding Business, The Bridge Inn and owners Jill and Bill Gruetzmacher, Outstanding Public Servant, Gary Helm, Superintendent of the Department of Public Works and Outstanding Educator, Fran Grant, GHS Science Teacher. Kudos to all on your very well deserved awards! Congratulations are also in order for our new board members Sean Fahey, Investment Center of Grafton and Steve Smith, Fire Ridge Golf Club and the entire 2016-17 Chamber Board of Directors, under the direction of President Renee Samson.  I am sure that they will continue to make our organization a strong and vital part of this community. Thank you to outgoing board members Sharon McKelvey, Investment Center of Grafton and Matt Schroeder, Little Ceasar's for giving of their time and talents to our Chamber.

Thanks to the generous support of our local businesses and the dedication of our Chamber Board members and their committees, the community events and programs sponsored by the Chamber including the Farmers Market, Ladies Night Out, the Chamber Golf Outing, Holiday Events, our State of the Community Luncheon remain successful. This year, we hosted our first Young Professionals Event and received a great deal of positive feedback.  Watch for more events from this group in the coming months.  We are very excited to be rolling out a new event later this summer!  Think mini-golf, life size foosball, music, food and fun...all wrapped up into one day!  We will be contacting you soon to provide more details!

We finished this membership year with an all-time high of with 306 members. The Chamber serves as a resource and referral source for your business.  2016-17 membership renewal packets were mailed last week and we look forward to our continued partnership.

Lisa Taubner, our Program and Administration Director, and I enjoy working with all of you!  The Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce is a wonderful organization to work for.  We hope that you have a wonderful summer and that you will contact us if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.

The Treasures of Oz 2016 Eco-Tour of Ozaukee County uncovers the Treasures of Lake Michigan and the Ozaukee Coast. Discover the Migratory Flyway above, the shipwrecks below, the towering Clay Bluffs and the deep coastal ravines. Get a preview of Clay Bluffs/Cedar Gorge Nature Preserve, the newest nature preserve with a mile of Lake Michigan shoreline. Learn about the coming NOAA marine sanctuary that begins in Ozaukee coastal waters and heads north to Manitowoc. Talk about the bottom of our inland sea with some of the divers who explore it. Learn about the 17 historical shipwrecks in the waters and the ones that are still searched for. That is only the beginning.
Treasures 2016 is a cross between an eco-tour and a science expo. You can go just for the excursions into 7 beautiful and diverse natural areas along the coast or you can go to learn about the natural and historic Ozaukee Coast and Lake Michigan through up close, real-life experience and interaction with top science docents. Go for both.
This event is always a great opportunity for birding, photography, finding new recreational opportunities and simply enjoying some of the best natural treasures in Oz. For more information and to download your passport visit our website www.treasurersofoz.com
