A Message from your Executive Director Dear Chamber Member, As we begin our 2015-16 Chamber year, I would like to congratulate the 2014-15 Chamber Board of Directors, under the direction of President Sharon McKelvey, on continuing to make this organization a strong and vital part of our community. Thank you to Roberta Campbell of Port Washington State Bank, Tom Lubner of Primecast Advertising, John Riechers of MPI and Frank Oetlinger of Blanking Systems for their many years of service as a members of the Chamber Board. I would also like to welcome Amanda Hansen of Hampton Inn & Suites, Mary Karnitz of Port Washington State Bank, Matt Schroeder of Little Caesars and Nate Krueger of MPI to the Board. Congratulations to Celebrate Grafton for kicking off the summer with two great back to back events. The Giro d' Grafton brought hundreds of cyclists and spectators to our community for a day of bike racing chills, thrills and even a few spills! Grillin' in Grafton and the Independence Day Parade and Fireworks were a terrific way kick off the 4th of July Holiday! In addition thirty-three teams participated in the Kansas City Barbecue competition, the food, family entertainment, and of course our spectacular fireworks made the event a big success.
We look forward to the start of our Farmers' Market on July 9th in the Grafton High School Parking Lot and Ladies Night Out on August 4th. You won't want to miss GALA's Concerts in the Park beginning July 9th, and Mel's Slow-Pitch Classic Softball Tournament & Music Festival in Centennial Park on July 10 -12 is sure to be another great time for a great cause.
We hope that you have a wonderful summer and that you will contact us if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.
Sincerely,
Pam

Independence Day Trivia
The average age of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence was 45. Benjamin Franklin was the oldest at age 70, and Edward Rutledge was the youngest at age 26.
One of the United States' patriotic songs, "Yankee Doodle" was originally sung by British military officers prior to the Revolution as a means to mock the disorganized American colonists who fought alongside them during the French and Indian Wars.
Did you know that John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, both of whom had not only signed the Declaration of Independence but went on to serve as Presidents of the United States, died on July 4th, 1826?
