From Your Chamber President
Sharon McKelvey Investment Center of Grafton

Looking back on our winter so far, besides the cold it has hardly seemed like winter at all and with only 48 more days to go till the spring equinox I am eagerly anticipating the crocus blooms to signal spring is finally here.

This week the Chamber hosted our Annual State of the Community Luncheon.  A big thank you goes to Dr. Mel Lightner, Grafton Superintendent, Lester Bartel, Grafton Town Board Chairman, and Jim Brunnquell, Grafton Village President for all of their insightful information.    These three individuals are obviously dedicated to making Grafton a desirable place to raise a family and call home.

Our chamber is a  diverse, dynamic, strong group of 293 active members.  Make sure you are making the most of your membership by taking advantage of all the chamber has to offer.  Pam, Lisa and Samy are dedicated to serving you, our members.

Every year in the US, Sudden Cardiac Arrest claims 8,800 children(under 18 years old) and 401,500 adults according to the American Heart Association. That's more than 26 children and over 1000 adults every single day. Currently survival rates are 10 percent for adults and only 5 percents fo children. Together we can make a difference and reduce the number of deaths from Sudden Cardiac Arrest by increasing public awareness, increasing the number of CPR trained people, strategically place more AEDs in our communities and increasing EKG heart screenings of our youth.
