A Message from Pam

Dear Chamber Members,

As we begin our 2014-15 Chamber year, I would like to congratulate the 2013-14 Chamber Board of Directors, under the direction of President Roberta Campbell, on continuing to make this organization a strong and vital part of our community.  Thank you to Jeff Larson of Alliance Packaging for his many years of service as a member of the Chamber Board, and welcome Frank Oetlinger of Oetlinger Precision Manufacturing Company to Board.

Congratulations to Celebrate Grafton for kicking off the summer with two great back to back events.  The Giro d' Grafton brought hundreds of cyclists and spectators to our community for a day of bike racing chills, thrills and even a few spills!  Grillin' in Grafton/Holidaze was a terrific way to jump start you Independence Day celebration.  In addition to over thirty teams participating in the Kansas City Barbecue competition, the food, family entertainment, and of course our spectacular fireworks made the event a big success.

Nancy Hundt has officially retired from the Chamber, and we wish her and her husband Rip well as they embark on this new chapter of their lives.  For almost 20 years, Nancy served as the Executive Director of the Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce.  Nancy's vision, dedication and true passion for this community made our Chamber what it is today!  We were very lucky to have her, and she will be missed!

We welcome Sami Grady to our office.  Sami will be our new Tourism Marketing and Events Coordinator.  She brings with her a wealth of knowledge and great enthusiasm.  She has already had an impact on our organization in the areas of social media and advertising.

We look forward to the start of our Farmers' Market on July 10 at its new location in the Grafton High School Parking Lot, Ladies Night Out on August 5, and our Grand Night Out event on August 23.  You won't want to miss GALA's Concerts in the Park beginning July 10th, and Mel's Slow-Pitch Classic Softball Tournament in Centennial Park on July 11 -13 is sure to be another great time for a great cause.

Lisa Taubner our Administrative Assistant, Sami and I love what we do!  The Grafton Area Chamber of Commerce is a great organization to work for.  We hope that you have a wonderful summer and that you will contact us if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions.

Sincerely,

Pam's Signature

It's not too early
to start thinking about the Christmas Parade! This year marks the 35th Anniversary of Grafton's Annual Parade and we'd like local businesses (both commercial and non-profit) to consider entering a FLOAT! Not only is this a great team-building opportunity, but also a chance to showcase your business and involve employees in this fun, family tradition!

START YOUR PLANNING!

This year's theme:

All that Glitters!

Interesting 4th fact......

In a bizarre, though perhaps apt, twist of fate, both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died on July 4, 1826. The publication of the Declaration of Independence may have accidentally made the 4th of July the official day of independence for America, but the deaths of two of its founders cemented its creation of the date's designation.
