Advanced Consultation Experience
Ame and Dennis Metcalfe
lecture
Sunday:
9:30am 2:00pm
Monday: 11:00am 3:30pm

Ame and Dennis share a blueprint and secret service that they have developed for an Advanced Consultation Experience (A.C.E.) that is easy to follow, organized and will guarantee results. This is an informative, fun, learning environment.

The haircolor is a success or failure before you ever apply the color. Studies show that the #9 reason that guest returns to the salon is the haircut or color itself. The #1-8 reasons are all about how they were treated, the relationship that was built and how they left feeling about the experience.

The A.C.E. has been an essential tool they utilize on a daily basis in their successful salon. Learn to give the perfect color consultation to explode sales and guest retention, live more confidently and organized as a salon professional and instantly gain referrals, great online reviews and make more money in your career. Rise to the level of consultation mastery that you seek today.

Growing Your Haircolor Clientele

lecture                                                                   Kate and Chris Hall, ABCH

Sunday: 11:00 am

Monday: 9:30 am and 2:00 pm

To be successful, every professional haircolorist needs to do more than great hair. Growing and keeping a vibrant clientele is a must, and you can't always count on your salon or others to grow it for you. This class includes strategies for marketing yourself, how to implement a winning referral program and a cost effective direct mail approach. Kate and Chris are going to revamp your method of tracking where your business comes from and how to leverage those numbers to reach your goals.
This class will prepare you to take those big steps to market yourself outside of your salon. The Halls also cover getting the most out of walk-ins, improving your client's in-salon experience and what it means to
be a professional.

ATLANTA MENTORING WORKSHOP SMASHING SUCCESS

Thanks to the outstanding work of the ABCH Evaluators, the students enjoyed some great education. The evaluators spent two days coaching the students on the finer points of passing the examination. The students were divided into groups of six so each could receive individual attention. At the end of the second day, their work was taken down and the mannequins were graded the same as the real ABCH Examination. The majority passed.  Now all they have to do is repeat it when they take the examination. We have discovered the majority of those taking an ABCH Mentoring Workshop have passed the Performance Exam their first time.

The next ABCH Mentoring Workshop will be in Chicago August 2-3, 2015.

APPRENTICESHIP IS THE ANSWER

Andre Nizetich spearheaded the California Cosmetology Apprentice program fifteen years ago.  Because of all the government agencies involved and apprentice rules conflicting with each other it became very challenging.  Andre is the designated Program Sponsor and Dana Rogalski is currently the Program Administrator for Southern California.  The California Cosmetology Apprenticeship Program was a name  bestowed on the program by the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). In order for the program to work, we have to interact with three different governmental agencies- the DIR , the State Board of Cosmetology and the Department of Education.

We have many many students who have dropped out of beauty school and want to become apprentices. They want to become apprentices because they feel they are not learning enough skills in school to enter in the salon pool. Is there anything that can be done for the students who enroll in school with promises of success and leave with nothing more than a student loan to pay off?  Modern Salon listed monies the manufacturers are donating to schools.  How about donating to Apprenticeship, or donate to non profit organizations like The American Board of Certified Haircolorist who teach skills to benefit the industry?  The ABCH is producing competent haircolorists who will keep clients coming back into salons.  For more information about ABCH- haircolorist.com

SUMMIT EDUCATORS MAKE THE TOP 200 LIST
Congratulations to Ame and Dennis Metcalfe. Their salon, D'Ametris Hair Color and Design Studio in Arvada, CO, is listed in Salon Today as one of the Top 200 salons in the country. This really sets them apart from the rest of the salon owners. How did they do it? They did it by offering superlative client services.
Ame and Dennis will be teaching "Advanced Consultation Experience" classes at the Energizing Summit. How often do you get the opportunity to advance your consultation skills while having a great time at the Summit?! This is real education from two of the best. Sign up now before their classes are all sold out!

WATCH OUT FOR COPYCATS

Anytime there is an introduction of a product that takes the industry by storm, there will be numerous  manufacturers who will follow their lead. Take Moroccanoil- one of the largest new product category introductions in many years.  It didn't take long for many other manufacturers to cash in on the OIL category. We now have oil named after every country in the world. One could argue it not the same; the copycats may never match the quality of the original product.

Now there are the copycats of OLAPLEX  who insist their product will give the same results. We tested OLAPLEX and found it did protect the hair from being over processed by bleach.

We decided to do a head to head comparison with OLAPLEX versus b3 Brazilian Bond Builder. After all if a product doesn't do what it say so, using it can create some serious damage to your client with the possibility of losing her as a client.  The comparison showed there was not an enormous difference in the feel of the hair between the two products. The big difference came after the hair has been shampooed several times. The b3 Brazilian Bond lost its sheen and became dry and frazzled and any conditioning action was removed by shampooing. The Olaplex retained a soft feel and sheen. On the negative side, we found if the hair was healthy there was little benefit gained by using Olaplex. When used with haircolor the mixture became thinner and the results of the haircolor was darker.

Overall our comparison found that OLAPLEX outperformed  b3 Brazilian Bond.

As more copycat products emerge we will continue to make comparisons. All comparisons performed by ABCH are completely unbiased.

You can view the results of this comparison of Olaplex verses b3 Brazilian Bond at the Energizing Summit in June.  Judge for yourself.

SCHWARZKOPF SELLING AT WAL-MART

Who can resist the world's largest retailer approaching you to sell your haircolor?  Schwarzkopf just couldn't resist Wal-mart because doing so would mean millions of dollars that they could never achieve selling only to the professional market. They will probably sell more color in one day at Wal-mart than they can in an entire year to salon haircolorists.

It appears the formulas are the same as the professional tube color. They are trying to keep both markets by convincing us the professional tubes are not related to the box color. Really? They are using their professional status to turn the company into a do-it-yourself at home box color! That's right a box color. As the professional market shrinks because of higher prices and home haircolorists,  it makes sense to capture part of a expanding box color market. What a sad situation for our industry.
