Bonnie Ray

At this hands on class Bonnie will demonstrate the very important virgin bleaching technique and why the ABCH method of doing virgin bleaching is superior to the methods currently being taught. She will show some graphic illustrations of what can go wrong if you do not follow the proper procedures. Learn the reasons for using Double Process Haircolor (DPH) and you will never look at DPH the same way.  For those of you who have never done a virgin bleach now is your chance to do the most complex and critical aspect of the virgin bleach, the second application. When you leave this class you will know your time was well spent.

This class has a $15.00 surcharge for the maintenance of the mannequin. You will be using mock bleach and the mannequin will remain in the classroom at the end of the class.

The Finer Points of Foiling
Paul Morrison
This class was conceived as a result of Paul Morrison educating his students on how to pass the ABCH performance examination. What Paul found was there were a great number of students taking a class on how to pass the performance examination who lacked the proper skills in foiling to pass the examination. This class is designed for individuals who would like to streamline their ability in properly placing foils in the hair. His class is not only for beginners but also for those who want to refine their foiling technique. Paul will cover things like sectioning the head, selecting the proper bleach and application of your product to avoid "bleeding" or leaving too much of "regrowth" as well as using your tools to take the struggle out of foiling.

Organic Haircoloring - Hype or Heaven
Melanie Nickels
Melanie Nickels will be addressing the controversies surrounding organic haircoloring. Since the introduction of INOA haircolor by L'Oreal their anti ammonia message is having our clients asking a lot of questions about organic haircolor. Melanie has vast experience on the subject and she is prepared to address any questions you have regarding organic haircolor. Melanie will cover information on using organic hair color. She will cover differences between ammoniated and non-ammoniated haircolor and answer the common questions of how it works. She will use a simple flip chart or computer to highlight points throughout her lecture. There will be ample time for questions.
The Perfect Consultation
Ame and Dennis Metcalfe

Ame and Dennis Metcalfe have developed a blueprint for consultation that is easy to follow and will guarantee results. The system has been an essential tool they utilize on a daily basis in their busy studio. They have proven it effective in coaching their own staff and observing their success. The methods have resulted in better communication, abundant referrals and being instrumental in achieving financial rewards. What you will achieve in this class is expert communication skills, how to respond to challenges, how to never be intimidated by any of your guests and most important what not to say to them. The haircolor is a success or a failure before you ever apply the color. This class is a must for those who become lost for words at exactly the wrong time. Don't miss this class!

Andre noticed...

JENNIFER ANISTON DARKER, GRAYER?

For years, Jennifer Anistons' haircolor has long been admired and requested by clients visiting professional haircolorists. Although she has her hair highlighted, it is naturally a beautiful soft brown color.  It is never stark and never overdone and to some degree very consistent.

Perhaps the most creative and challenging part of haircoloring is keeping a consistent haircolor on your client month after month. It is for that reason we applaud Jennifer Anistons' haircolorist because her haircolor always looks great.  Maybe it varies a little, but you do not see any big swings in her haircolor.
I suspect a big change is about to happen in Jennifers' color because her natural color is becoming darker and appears to be getting gray.  This seemed most evident in her recent movie, "Wanderlust".  Her new growth is visibly a little darker sprinkled with gray.  The next step is a big one, disguising the gray and highlighting the new growth so it does not become brassy.  Her haircolorist I'm certain will not disappoint us. Let's see how her haircolorist handles it.
Maintaining Integrity

Maintaining highlighted hair continues to be a primary service in salons today. The most important consideration is controlling the increased porosity of colored hair. Porosity influences every factor of the service. Colorists consider many factors from choice of weave or slice techniques and foil placement as well as formulation--choosing bleach or high-lift color, and the volume of peroxide. Contrast in tones is important but knowing how much and placement is the artistic mastery of this service.

A key point that ABCH evaluators look for in the Highlight retouch quadrant portion of the Performance Exam, is that the colorists demonstrated bleach sensitivity (highlight the regrowth area and then stagger out the bleach only onto the dark strands in the foil.)

Preserving Your Client's Highlighted Hair, a Summit class taught by Heidi Mittelstadt, covers these topics and more. This three hour class includes a $15 surcharge for maintenance of the mannequin. Mock bleach is used in class.

This photo is a great example of seeing beauty in the art of the process, which sometimes can equal the beautiful results.
This model is prepped for NY Fashion Week February 2012,    Zang Toi Collection.
Vintage looks are hot but are your skills up to date? Can you still fingerwave?  pincurl?  Do you offer body wave(texture services)?
Don't be left behind--at least learn to do a double French twist or the popular Victory Roll. Great styling gets noticed and shows off your beautiful haircolor results. Google tutorials for up-dos!
