Strong, Respectful Relationships Spice and Spark Success

What excites you about coming to work every day, an interviewer asked me recently. My answer? I get to see people at their very best. Every day, someone walks in our door and they want to do good, and they want us to help them dream bigger, think smarter...to do good better. It's something that drives me, that excites me each day. And according to an employee survey Community Partners conducted recently, our staff members also reap a measure of job and workplace satisfaction at least in part from the good vibe generated by this outpouring of civic bounty.

Spontaneously polled, several enthusiastic Community Partners staff members recently shared success and accomplishment reports from our fiscally sponsored projects and grantmaker partnershps that made them feel good about their work. Here are a few:

Project News


David Kipen, who heads up Boyle Heights lending library Libros Schmibros, joins a Zocalo panel June 1 that asks: Is LA's History Worth Saving? 


LA's Channel 35 covers  the launch of A Drop in the Bucket, a water conservation program from sponsored project The Wildwoods Foundation.


The 72 Virgins project, which aims to bring Muslims and Jews together to socialize, blossomed out of NewGround: A Muslim Partnership for Change, and is covered here on the Huffington Post. 

 


Katherine McNenny, the co-founder of Community Partners sponsored project Industrial District Green and a volunteer for Operation Healthy Streets, was been named one of 15 Los Angeles Pioneer Women.

 


HYPE has done it again -- for the fourth consecutive year, 100% of their students were accepted to independent high schools. Congrats to the HYPE Class of 2019!

Celebrate the first five years of the Los Angeles Food Policy Council (LAFPC), a project of Community Partners, and its collaborative efforts to create a more just and sustainable food system in our region. Enjoy a locally sourced tasting menu and craft cocktails, beer, and wine as LAFPC honors exemplary good food heroes.


ChangeMaker Scholarships for Social Entrepreneurs

Deadline: June 15
 

The American Jewish University's new ChangeMaker Scholarship is geared toward potential graduate students who have founded, work in or are seeking to transition their skills into the nonprofit sector. Scholarships range in value from 50% to 80% of a student's tuition in the 18 month MBA in Nonprofit Management Program. Click here to learn more.

 



Fourth Annual 501(c)onference
June 2-3

The fourth annual 501(c)onference brings hundreds of nonprofit, philanthropic, and civic leaders together from across Southern California to meet, learn, and be inspired. Presented by the Center for Nonprofit Management, this two-day conference will focus on impact and provide the road map needed to navigate today's nonprofit landscape and achieve results for tomorrow.
