Caring Community, One Individual at a Time
Caring community.
Two simple words. Quite a lofty ambition.
And yet, as I stood surrounded on the evening of December 11 by a diverse group of friends and colleagues at Community Partners' annual holiday gathering, the intentional shared striving for this goal could not have been more palpable.

Important Announcements
| Annual Audit Report Now Available Community Partners is proud of its responsible and thorough stewardship of resources, one of the hallmarks of services we provide to our sponsored projects and grantmaker partners.
Each year we are pleased to report a clean bill of financial health and this year is no exception. The independent accounting firm Singer Lewak completed our audit in October, and the full results are available online at http://www.communitypartners.org/about-us/financials/ along with our Form 990.
Briefly, revenue increased to $21 million in fiscal year 2012. Of that amount, 84 percent went directly to programming, with the remaining spent on management and fundraising expenses - a strong reflection of the focus we and our projects place on community impact. Connect With Us... Community Partners is now on Twitter! Follow us @CommunityPrtnrs and subscribe to our CP Projects list to keep up with all that is new and exciting on the social innovation front. It's a great way for projects to connect as well. |
In Case You Missed It

LOOKING FORWARD: Tell Us What You See
What are the forces - political, economic, or cultural - that will shape the future of Southern California?
This is the question posed to guests who attended our recent annual holiday gathering, an event that also marked Community Partners' 20th year. But rather than an occasion to look back, we decided it was the perfect opportunity to look ahead, toward our next 20 years.
So let us know what you think lies ahead for the region. What will impact your work as civic leaders and social entrepreneurs? You can tweet us at @CommunityPrtnrs using #Next20. Or shoot us an email. We'll share some of the results after the first of the year. And your thoughts will help inform our planning efforts in 2013.

Stand-Out Year-End Appeals and Five Bad Habits to Kick
It's not too late to raise support for 2013 and strengthen relationships. Forty percent of online donations are made in December, with 40-60% of those gifts made in the last two days of the month. Make sure your appeals stand out from others and avoid common mistakes.

Thank You Letters
Thank you letters matter -- they can inspire donors to give again. The most effective thank you letters are personal and thoughtful. What does RootDown LA, a project of Community Partners, do to thank donors? Find out here. Want to use video? Click here for tips and here for examples.
