School Is In Session

Back To School

It's been a busy and beautiful summer! Can you believe it is almost over? As we enter a new season of leaf peeping and apple picking, it's important to remember that children are back in school which means using extra caution while out on the roads.

Safety Tips for Kids:

>Always arrive at the bus stop early.

>Wait to get on the bus until it's completely stopped, the doors are open and the bus driver says it's OK to get on............

Safety Tips for Motorists:

>Take extreme caution when driving in a school zone because children's actions are often unpredictable.

>Drive carefully in areas with no sidewalks and be alert to the possibility that kids may be walking in the road.............

Tips for anyone traveling to and from school:

>Plan a walking route to school or to the bus stop, which should be the most direct way with the fewest street crossings and which uses intersections with crossing guards if possible.

>Parents should walk the route to school with their kids beforehand and remind them to stay away from parks, fields, vacant lots and other places without many people around...........Print Full  Article

Back to School

The Most Beautiful Season of the Year is Almost Here!

Along with the the beauty of the changing landscape, the crispness of the air, and the longed for delicious taste of a fresh baked apple pie comes a checklist.

Garden:

This is just the right season for planting perenials, trees, and shrubs. Prune non-flowering shrubs and trim back tree limbs near your roof.

Preparation: Prepare for winter by giving your heating system a tune-up. Also check caulking and weather stripping around the doors and exterior windows. Clean out gutters and downspouts, and make sure outside water pipes are drained and protected from freezing.

Garage: Make a clean sweep of the place. Get rid of unused items and organize tools, outdoor gear, and yard equipment. Also, remove anything that is likely to freeze, such as paint.

Most Important: Remember to take long walks and enjoy the season!
