Feeling The Pinch!Rising Gas Prices

Are you so accustomed to the "Empty" light glowing from your dash board that you feel as though something is missing when it's not on?

Here Are 5 Easy Ways to Save Money on Gasoline

1. Combine Trips. Every time you start your car, you're using a lot of gas. To   avoid starting your car several times a day, combine your errands.

2. Premium isn't always best. Avoid paying for "premium" and "high-octane" gas unless your car requires it. For most cars, the cheapest gas will work just as efficiently.

3. Keep your trunk clean. Remember that 11th grade physics course that you never paid attention in? Well, here's a quick refresher: the heavier an object is, the more energy it will take to move it. While having your prized cinder block collection in your trunk at all times "just in case" may seem like a great idea, you'd be better off taking it out. The lighter the car, the more fuel efficient it will be.

4. Seek out the cheapest prices. While this may sound pretty simple, we sometimes choose convenience over logic. Gas stations often change their prices around noon, so try to fill up in the morning if possible.

5. There's an app for that. Applications like GasBuddy or www.GasPriceWatch.com search your location for the cheapest gas around.

What Lurks In Your Carpet

May Not be Healthy!  Dust Mites In Carpet

Did you know that your carpet acts as a filter for your indoor environment; and just like any other filter it needs to be either changed or cleaned. Even if your carpet looks clean it still holds dirt, pollen, dead skin, and mites and their feces.

Fact #1:
The EPA ranks Indoor Air Pollution among the top five environmental risks to human health. Harmful bacteria, fungus, chemicals, germs, pollens, smoke, oils, and toxic air are filtered through your carpet. EPA studies show pollutants may be up to 70 times higher indoors, creating a higher risk indoors than outdoors.

Fact #2:
Dust mites are the major cause of allergies in over 22 million households in the US. If you have asthma, allergies, emphysema, or breathing difficulties, one source of your problem could be living in your carpet.

Fact #3:
Dirt is abrasive and it's scratching and dulling your carpet. Each day Town & Country Services pulls pounds and pounds of sandy soil out of the base of their client's carpets. You would be amazed at the amount of debris and contaminants that are removed from clean looking carpets.

Fact #4:
Regular cleaning prevents permanent damage. Soils bond with the fibers causing color change and permanent soil attachment. Having your carpets cleaned as little as possible is one of the industries most common misconceptions.

Carpet Fabric Construction

The primary carpet fabric construction methods include:

Tufting
Weaving
Knitting
Needlepunching
Bonding

TUFTING
Over 90% of carpet produced is tufted, the most prevalent carpet construction method. Tufting machines are similar to giant sewing machines, using hundreds of threaded needles in a row across the width of the machine. Today's machines are increasingly complex and sophisticated, providing a wide variety of styles and constructions.

The creel, located in front of the tufter, may be..........

WEAVING

While there are several methods of weaving and several types of looms, there are basic similarities to all. In general, woven carpet is formed by the interweaving of warp and weft yarns. The warp yarns are wound from parallel or heavy beams that unwind slowly as weaving progresses. Two main types of warp yarns form the carpet back are..........

KNITTING

A carpet knitting machine, known as a double needle bar knitter, has a row arrangement of hundreds of latch needles that move in an up-and-down motion in conjunction with yarn guide bars. Yarn guide tubes are attached to a guide bar that passes the yarns between and about the needles, thus

NEEDLEPUNCHING

In the needlepunching process, several webs of staple fibers are superimposed to create a thick, loose batting. The batting is then tacked, or lightly needled, to reduce its thickness before it is fed into the machine. As the batting is fed into the machine..........

BONDING

Fusion bonded carpet is produced by implanting the pile yarn directly into a liquid polymer, usually PVC, which fastens it directly to the backing. This results in very little buried yarn compared to other processes. The yarns can be closely packed, producing..........
