Solicitation by Medical Equipment Suppliers
Recently the CMS Region 9 office sent out a memo warning physicians about some DME equipment suppliers fraudulent marketing programs. Medicare Administrative contractors have received numerous complaints from physicians about these companies.

The memo explains what methods are utilized and how physicians can protect themselves and their staff.

We recommend you read this memo and post it for your staff to read.

New Year's Resolutions: A Few Ways to Get Moving in the Right Direction

Jay Conyers, PhD

Jay Conyers, PhD, MCMS Executive Director

The start of the year is often a time for new projects and change, but also a great time to reflect on years past. At the Maricopa County Medical Society, 2014 marks the start of a new Board of Directors, a new Executive Director, and a list of new strategic initiatives and policy priorities. A lot of "newness" for an organization that is 122 years old!

Despite the solid foundation and impressive history of the Society, it seems clear to me already in my three short months on the job that we need to strive to evaluate what it is the Society provides its members and the community, and determine if it's what we should be doing given the current environment, and direction, of medicine.

New Feature Series - The ABC's of the ACA

Starting today, the Maricopa County Medical Society is excited to share a new series of articles published in InforMED Society and Round-up Magazine - "The ABC's of the ACA".

The series will highlight what MCMS members need to know about the ACA - new rules and legislation, helpful hints and fact sheets, plus a whole lot more. We will focus on how this new era of healthcare is affecting your patients, practice or business, yourself or your family, and the physician community within Maricopa County and across the state.

Ideas or suggestions for articles? We love to hear from our membership! Contact Jay Conyers, Executive Director or Candice Scheibel, Director of Communications by calling 602.252.2015 or email mcms@mcmsonline.com

Do you have patients asking about informational sources for the Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare") Medicare and Medicaid? We can help!

The Society has received a number of calls from members seeking enrollment information to pass along to patients. With the unreliability of healthcare.gov, we've identified several ACA resources along with information on Medicaid (AHCCCS) and Medicare, and compiled them into an easy-to-use flyer.

Download and print - then distribute in waiting or examination rooms. We can also provide copies to you! Just email us with your request and we'll get them in the mail.

Please note: the link above will direct you to a downloadable/printable PDF; you will need Adobe Reader or Acrobat to view/print. If you do not have Adobe Reader installed on your computer, please download for free.
