PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Celebration
By Daniel Lieberman
Our brains are uniquely well-suited for dealing with opposites. Even ancient men --- without an understanding of cellular biology, molecular genetics, or electrophysiology--- had an appreciation for our capacity to organize and learn across a spectrum. Hippocrates, who is known to cause physicians to swear to this day, said "Men ought to know that from the brain, and from the brain only, arise our pleasures, joys, laughter, and jests, as well as our sorrows, pains, griefs and tears."
