 Fisher Earns NCAR Regional Service Award
Congratulations to Carlton Fisher for being awarded the Region 2 Service Award from NCAR. He earned this award because of his constant contributions to his community, WRAR, NCAR, and NAR. Congratulations Carlton!

The Board of Directors' recommend that the REALTOR® members remove Bylaw's Article XI, Section 4(e): Election Committee The President shall appoint an Election Committee of three (3) REALTOR® Members plus the chief staff executive to conduct the election and to count the ballots.
Rationale: Voting is only conducted via an Internet voting program which returns the results. The results are printed; staff finds the members of the Election Committee who sign the results and then the results are given to the President. This anachronistic provision should be removed.

 Pilon Accepts New Position with
Live Oak Bank Current Director of Marketing & Communications for WRAR, Brian Pilon, recently accepted a position with Live Oak Bank. On October 5, he will begin working as a Marketing Programs Manager for the well-known small business lending bank based in Wilmington. Brian's last day on staff will be October 2nd after having served at WRAR for more than 7 years. WRAR will begin looking for his replacement immediately. Low mortgage rates may stick around for awhile longer, following the Fed's decision Thursday to back away from an interest rate hike for September.
Housing Shortage Is Running Up Prices, Rents
A shortage in housing has pushed up home values too much in some areas and made rents unusually high.
Housing Starts Drop, But Builders Are Upbeat
The Commerce Department reports a slowdown in single-family and multifamily housing starts, a report that follows on the heels of a survey that showed homebuilder confidence is at its highest point since 2005.
Court Puts More Pressure on Zillow in Move, NAR Lawsuit
A Seattle judge has ordered senior Zillow employee Curt Beardsley and an expert witness hired by Zillow to sit for additional depositions as concerns grow over evidence destruction in the portal's ongoing legal battle with Move Inc. and NAR.
