Hosting relatives at your home can bring all types of reactions to mind.  For some it is a time of panic, for others it is a time of joy.  In either case, the following tips can make the visit more enjoyable for all involved:

Take charge of the visit - keeping in mind your family and your work, schedule the visit when it is most convenient for you.

Do as much prep work in advance as possible - this includes food prep, and arranging activities.

Maintain your schedule - it's very important, especially for children, to maintain a regular schedule as much as possible.  Don't cancel your regular plans.  Maintain them and do your best to include your relatives.  An alternative might be to give them some alternate options that they may enjoy apart from your family.  You may even find that they enjoy that time to themselves.

Involve your relatives in your family life - Show visiting relatives how you do things and give them the opportunity to help.  If your relatives are the grandparents, they may really enjoy some quality time with their grandchildren, without mom and dad around.
