The 4 D's of Paper Management:
Your goal is to "handle paper once". So when you pick up a piece of paper, you need to do one of the following:
- DO IT: Take immediate action - prioritize and act on it.
- DELEGATE IT: Hand the paper over to someone else to take care of. Provide clear expectations on what you require.
- DELAY IT: This paper has information that you don't need yet but will need in the future. Schedule a date on your calendar to deal with this paper.
- DUMP IT: If it has no value - please recycle immediately.
