Always keep your eyes open for space in your home or office that you can use for creative storage. Under the bed is one option. If you don't have enough height for storage bins you might consider buying bed risers that are available in home decor or home health stores. Decorative baskets or funky old suitcases can be great storage ideas. I store my candles in a beautiful old suitcase that my mother got as a gift when she was a teenager. Consider putting a shelf around the perimeter of your child's bedroom. Place it closer to the ceiling as a spot to display mementos or art pieces that are treasured, but don't need to be kept in prime real estate.
