Andre Dubus Opens 16 in '16!

On Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., our year-long reading challenge 16 in '16 will begin with a night of discussion featuring acclaimed author Andre Dubus III

Join us for a talk with the author of The House of Sand & Fog and Townie

Register today! The first 50 people to register for this event will receive a free 16 in '16 tote bag that night.

The House of Sand & Fog was made into a movie, and Dubus' novel The Garden of Last Days is soon to be made into a film. His memoir, Townie, was a New York Times bestseller and Editors' Choice. Dubus' latest, Dirty Love, was published in 2013. Dirty Love was also a NYT Editors' Choice, as well as a Notable Fiction pick by the Washington Post.

16 in '16 is the Flint Memorial Library's year-long reading challenge for adults. In addition to several events, there will be many ways to switch up your reading habits and challenge yourself in 2016.

Last year, patrons read 2,384 books during the 15 in '15 reading challenge! Can we beat that in 2016?

ISIS: What Is It?

Join North Reading social studies teacher Nick Damiano for a lively and informative discussion about the rise of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). He will discuss the militant group's roots, what it controls, and where its support comes from. There will be time for questions after the presentation.
