Summer Reading Kick-Off!

As school is in the home stretch, children of all ages are gearing up for summer reading.

This year's Summer Reading program - Every Hero Has A Story - begins with the annual ice cream social on Monday, June 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the activity room.

We'll have more information on the program - including how to sign up, how to win prizes, and the special prize for the schools that meet their reading goal - on our website: flintmemoriallibrary.org.

Garden Club Mysteries

Join local author Neal Sanders for an evening of fun and intrigue on Monday, June 8 at 7 p.m.

Sanders has written nine mysteries and will share humorous anecdotes about gardening and writing with our audience.

In his talk, Neal will tell us where he gets his ideas for his stories, many of which center on garden clubs.  His wife no longer returns from garden club meetings and says, "You wouldn't believe what happened to me today," and neither is privy to garden club gossip anymore!

There will be a brief Friends of the Flint Memorial Library meeting prior to Neal's talk.

The program is open to everyone.

15 in '15 Patron Recommendation

Not sure what to read next? Here's a patron recommendation!

Church of Marvels by Leslie Parry
A skillfully written and engrossing story filled with turn-of-the-20th-century period details of New York City and Coney Island. I just had to keep reading to see what would happen next! The author did a lovely job of tying together all the different story strands and wrapped everything up with a satisfying ending--but not the one I'd guessed, though. Lots of twists in this story!!
