Who Stole The Gardner Paintings?

Were Boston mobsters involved? According to investigative reporter Stephen Kurkjian and Connecticut prosecutors, there is evidence that they were!

Please join Pulitzer-Prize-winning Kurkjian as he discusses his new book - Master Thieves.

The book explores the reporter's theory that Boston-area gangsters were part of the 1990 Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist and that everyone knows someone who knows something.

And now, Connecticut prosecutors agree with the theory. On Monday, April 21, a known mobster was in court, charged with other crimes. But the court heard evidence that the man had tried to negotiate with an undercover FBI agent a sale of two of the paintings stolen from the Gardner.

It has been 25 years since thieves dressed as Boston Police officers entered the museum and stole 13 works of art, including a Rembrandt and a Vermeer. The Vermeer painting The Concert is considered the most valuable of the stolen paintings.

Learn more about the heist and discuss Kurkjian's theory on Tuesday, May 19 at 7 p.m.

Registration is required as space is limited!

The Bookseller by Cynthia Swanson:
This debut novel was wonderfully written and hauntingly beautiful. Set in the early 1960s, I enjoyed its historically accurate period details. It also has one of the most unique plot premises I've encountered recently. I just had to press on to find out how everything would be resolved!
