Hope you're already planning to join us from April 9th to 19th, 2015 as we all Follow the Dots to Fun. Shop Hop bags are available NOW for only $15! This year, as part of our theme, the bag will come with a special 3" button for you to pin onto your polka dot bag. You can see them in the picture below! Then as you travel from shop to shop, you will be given a smaller pin to attach to your bag if you wish. Each shop will have their own pin and you'll want to collect them all! Stop in and pick up your bag so that you don't miss a minute of the fun during Shop Hop 2015!

"FEET"ured  FOR MARCH

BASKET CLUB MAKE UP DAY

The 1st Wednesday session of Basket Club was snowed out in February. Deb has re-scheduled the class for Thursday, March 26th.

If that day isn't good for you, perhaps you could attend both your regular session in March and the 2nd Wednesday as well.

Please let us know when you plan to come in to make up the class so that we have machines ready for you!

GALLERY HAPPENINGS

Today is the last day for the Gallery Show featuring quilts made by the members of the Prairie Pioneer Quilters of Grand Island, Nebraska. This wall hanging was machine embroidered and appliqued. The fabric for the applique is laid onto the outline of the shape in the hoop, then automatically stitched down. You then carefully cut around the outside of the stitching line and replace the hoop onto the embroidery module. The machine then lays down the satin stitches around the edge of the fabric and perfect appliqued birds emerge. It really is a fun piece and has received many comments from gallery viewers. If you haven't stopped in during February, you should plan to come in today so you don't miss this project and all the others provided by the Prairie Pioneer Quilters.
We'd like to invite you to our Gallery Opening, this Thursday, March 5th from 5 to 7 pm. The featured quilters and crafters are our own Mary Beth Lindsey, her daughter  and her mom. There will be quilts as well as some knitting and other crafts from this talented family. Hope to see you there!

YORK HOME & GARDEN SHOW

A special "Thank You" to those of you who stopped by our booth to say hello during the Home and Garden Show last weekend. It's fun to take our embroidery machines out and see the reactions to a machine that sews by itself! Children especially are fascinated by the sight. There was a big crowd and the facility was beautiful! Hope you had a chance to attend!

Just a note....

SEW & TELL

Lots of sew and tell to share this week!

Georgia Schropfer shared 2 quilts with us this week. The one at left was made using our pattern from the Strip Tease Shop in January. Georgia added some extra blocks as well as 2 borders. The outside rose piece was in her stash for quite a while and this quilt turned out to be the perfect time to use it! Goes to show - if you see beautiful fabric that you love - buy it! It will go into a quilt at some point and you'll probably never see it at another store.

Georgia made this Mile a Minute scrap quilt to go on her bed. It's a wonky take on a log cabin block. Start with 2 squares sewn together for the center, then strip around with whatever size, color or shape strip of fabric. When the block gets big enough, square it up however you'd like to a set size. The black sashing really pops and gives your eye a place to rest. I'm sure it will look great in your bedroom Georgia!

Leah Doolan comes from Council Bluffs to sew with us. This pretty wallhanging was made from a pattern by the Quilted Crow Girls from Australia. Leah has a good sense of color and does beautiful hand applique. This shows it off quite well!

Sharon Zierott belongs to our Scrap Crazy class that meets on the 4th Friday of each month. We started in January with the basic scrap block. Sharon decided that it would be a great way to use some of the men's ties that she's collected over the years. These are all mostly tan and brown with a few reds thrown in for interest. Her family told her to make It a wallhanging size and have it framed for their family room. Looks great Sharon!

Eileen Steinbeck comes from Doniphan to attend Bernina Club and brought this beautiful quilt to share with us. She wanted it to hang on the wall, so she reduced the size of the embroidery so that it fit on only one panel instead of two as shown on the pattern. It turned out just right!

Eileen Krumbach also made an adjustment to her pattern when she made these quilts. Eileen purchased our "Something to Crow About" Block of the Month and an extra panel. She divided the blocks into four 4 block designs so that she has a smaller quilt to hang for three months at a time. Really a clever idea! If you'd like to try it - we still have a few kits left. All she had to buy was the additional panel and the beige piece she used for sashing. What a great way to use a pattern that you like but don't want it to turn out so large. Nice work Eileen!

Rochelle Swanson brought in her quilt from the Strip Tease Shop Hop in January. She used the pattern from the store in Mankato, Kansas, Hidden Treasures. It is a really pretty quilt that looks like chain links. It turned out beautifully Rochelle. Thanks for sharing it with us.

We love Sew & Tell! Please bring your completed projects in so we can enjoy them and share with all the other quilters who like to see finished quilts - even if they belong to someone else! Looking forward to seeing your next one!

Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival?

This summer, June 19 to 21, will be the inaugural show at the Overland Park Convention Center. There will be classes taught by national teachers. Lots of vendors will be showing their wares. Quilts will be on display. Sounds like lots of fun right in our own backyard. For more information look at their website at kcrqf.com and friend them on Facebook.

Did you read the information about the NIFS Challenge at the beginning of the newsletter? The ladies that bring you Shop Hop would like to challenge you to use the 2015 Wild About Nebraska panel in a project. Big or small, quilt, wall hanging, wearable or anything else. Put on your thinking cap and sew up something using all or part of our panel. No charge to enter. Just bring in your finished project to our store by April 1st. We'll hang all the entries up during Shop Hop and have the shoppers vote for their favorite. The one with the most votes will win a $50 gift certificate from The Quilt Basket and it will be entered in the statewide contest. The winner of all the statewide winners will receive a $100 gift certificate that can be spent at any Shop Hop store. Panels are available at our store at the reduced price of $6 each. You've got a month to get finished, so Ready, Set, GO!!!

NEWSLETTER ISSUES

Sorry that the newsletter didn't go out last week. I had some computer issues that kept me from connecting to the internet all weekend. Thought it was resolved but when I tried to sign on again yesterday, I had the same problems. My husband's computer seems to be behaving for the moment so I used his to get this out on time. Mine is going to go to the spa and see if they can work the kinks out of it. Hopefully all will be right in the electronic world next week in the Glisson household. Keep your fingers crossed!

The April Gallery will feature Panel Projects that are entered into the Challenge. We'd also like to hang quilts that are in keeping with the Shop Hop Theme, Follow the Dots to Fun. So if you have any quilts that have polka dot fabric in them or maybe have big circles, please plan to bring them to us to hang in our gallery in April. Thanks for your help. We'd hate to have empty walls!

   And computers always work too!

Keep Quilting,

Linda
