BERNINA CLUB

STARTS WEDNESDAY,

JANUARY 28th!

We'll be trying out a new club this year. Bernina offers a Virtual Club that meets each month. They give me a lesson plan with hand-outs and a power point presentation to share with the members. The lessons highlight Bernina feet and how they can be used to make your sewing projects easier. This week we'll be using the ruffler foot, Teflon coated feet, the piping foot and the binder foot. This is a new concept for us so it may evolve throughout the year. Join us this Wednesday at 1pm for this interesting class. It's a $5/one punch class and you'll get 15% discount on the feet we feature that month. If you aren't already signed up, please let us know if you're planning to come so that I have enough handouts for everyone.

GALLERY HAPPENINGS

This month our Gallery features Staff favorites - a quilt or two from each of our talented staff members. I'm sure you'll enjoy the variety! The quilt above was made by Joyce Wittgren from Polk. Joyce was on a shopping trip with her sister and they stopped at a quilt shop - that's a shock I know! The shop had a kit that they both liked so kits were purchased. Joyce's had some problem so she re-designed the pattern and added the floral fabric and rearranged what was left. The beautiful quilt above is what she made. Joyce took the quilt back to the shop to show them what she'd done with their kit and the shop's staff liked her version better than the original.
We invite you to stop in this week before they're gone!

Speaking of the Gallery, it's that time of the year again! We're already to start a new calendar that's full of blank pages and squares. I'm looking for some quilters to share their quilts in our Gallery for a month in 2015, starting with March. That gives you a few months to get them together.  Please consider volunteering. You don't have to be a professional, just a quilter! We need about 10 large quilts or a few large ones and some smaller wallhangings. Talk to me soon so that all the spaces aren't taken before
you can pick your month!

SEW & TELL

More great projects to share!

This is Cindy Morner holding a table runner and set of placemats that she made in Becki's Quilt as You Go class. This is Cindy's first quilting project and it turned out beautifully! Congratulations Cindy. Looking forward to seeing what you'll make next.

Nancy Heine turned 50 last year and she received black and white fat quarters from many of her friends. She put them together with pops of bright yellow to make this friendship star quilt. It looks great as usual Nancy! Thanks for sharing.

Leah Doolan from Council Bluffs brought us this striking Block of the Month quilt. The large quilt blocks were in the BOM but the setting, center medallion and the rest of the applique were all Leah's idea. It turned out beautifully.

Mel Ellis who lives here in York, made this quilt for her husband's 45th High School Class reunion. She included a list of class officers and other information in the smaller squares and the school mascot in the center. I'm sure it was the hit of the reunion Mel!

We love Sew & Tell! Please bring your completed projects in so we can enjoy them and share with all the other quilters who like to see finished quilts - even if they belong to someone else! Looking forward to seeing your next one!

We've also got a big selection of batiks that will be on sale for $8 a yard. It's a great time to pick up backing fabric or just to fill in holes in your stash! Come early for the best selection. Remember, we'll be open from 9 to 5 on Saturday.

If you're sewing on Sunday, you can shop the sale that day as well.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!
