MYSTERY SEW-IN

Pull out your calendar and mark January 31st and February 1st as our Annual Super Duper Super Bowl Sale on Saturday and our 6th Mystery Quilt Sew-In on Sunday, Feb 1st. When we did inventory this year, we found lots of fabric and other stuff that needs to be gone! We'll be marking them down and putting them out for the Super Duper Sale. The Mystery Quilt is under construction and you can stop in and pick out the fabric for your version. You'll need 2 jelly rolls - one patterned and another for background. If you can't find a background jelly roll, pick out 3 yards of a coordinating fabric and we'll cut it into strips for you. Buy your fabric from us and the class is free. Bring your own and the class is $15. We will start sewing Sunday morning at 10 and you should get most of your top finished by the time we wind up at 4pm. We'll furnish lunch and ask you to bring a snack to share. It's always lots of fun and we're looking forward to sharing the weekend with you.

a different kind of Shop Hop!

We have our 2014 Row by Row patterns, row kits and wall hanging kits available for sale! The pattern is $5. The row kit is $12.50 and includes the pattern and fabric to make only the row - without borders. The Wall Hanging kit is $24.50 and will make the hanging as shown. You need only add batting and backing. Postage is additional. If you'd like any of the available kits, please call us at 402-362-4737 or email us and we'd be glad to get it out to you!

"FEET"ured  FOR JANUARY

GALLERY HAPPENINGS

This month our Gallery features Staff favorites - a quilt or two from each of our talented staff members. I'm sure you'll enjoy the variety! The quilt above was made by Becki Mertens. It is a "One Block Wonder", a quilt with all the blocks made from one piece of fabric. Each block consists of six identical wedges sewn together to form a hexagon. The variety in the blocks is from the wedges being cut from different areas of the print. After all the blocks are made, they are arranged by colors and sewn together to make a beautiful quilt like this one of Becki's.
Stop in this month a take a look at our work.

Speaking of the Gallery, it's that time of the year again! We're already to start a new calendar that's full of blank pages and squares. I'm looking for some quilters to share their quilts in our Gallery for a month in 2015, starting with March. That gives you a few months to get them together.  Please consider volunteering. You don't have to be a professional, just a quilter! We need about 10 large quilts or a few large ones and some smaller wallhangings. Talk to me soon so that all the spaces aren't taken before
you can pick your month!

SEW & TELL

Another great project to share!

Vickie Friesen brought in her Mystery Quilt from the 2014 Super Bowl Mystery Day. It's quilted and bound 2 whole weeks before the next Mystery Day! Nice work Vickie. It turned out great! Kansas Troubles fabrics are one of my favorites!

Connie Taylor brought us her Twisted Heart done in pinks for a lovely Valentine's Day wall hanging. The fun part of twister patterns is that once they're finished they look very intricate but they're really not that hard. You just need to keep the blocks in line. Looks like Connie did just that! Thanks for sharing!

We love Sew & Tell! Please bring your completed projects in so we can enjoy them and share with all the other quilters who like to see finished quilts - even if they belong to someone else! Looking forward to seeing your next one!

Do You Knit?

Karen Walmeier is starting a knitting group called "Chicks with Sticks". They're meeting at Captain Red Beard's Coffee Shop at 7th & Platte on the 1st and 3 Monday of each month from 10 to Noon. Questions? E-mail Karen at kwfiberfarm@yahoo.com

Don't know about you, but hand sewing binding is not my favorite part of quilting. I've tried to convince my husband that he'd enjoy doing it for me but so far... he's not buying it! That last corner is my favorite part of the job! Hope you get through your least favorite job this week and move on to something fun!

Looking forward to sewing together on February 1st. Be sure to stop in, sign up and pick your fabric for the Mystery Quilt.

Keep Quilting,

Linda
