Farmers' Markets
Did you know that there's an Anne Arundel County Farmers' Market every Thursday at the DNR parking lot by the Tawes Garden, across from the Navy stadium?
The hours are 3 to 6 p.m. and the vendors currently are offering produce, plants, flowers, beef, pork, lamb, chicken, goat milk and cheese, Jamaican Jerk ribs and chicken, sauces and rubs, baked goods, hand crafted jewelry, and soon... micro greens, candy and even a food truck.

Celebrating the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National
Historic Trail and the Centennial of the National Park Service
Event Sponsor
It's summer, time to recognize and appreciate the great outdoors! We're bringing our "fun side of eco-awareness... making serious connections" to the newly opened Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service by focusing on the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail in our backyard. Entering at the ground level tasting room, our event will be in the second floor bar and spilling out onto the roomy open-air terrace!
We are suggesting an admission donation of $10 for this Green Drinks, to help us bring you fun and informative evenings such as this and to further our promotion of sustainability in the Greater Annapolis area.
About Our Event Sponsor
The National Park Service is the lead federal agency in administering the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail, and our event sponsor, the Chesapeake Conservancy, is its principal partner for trail development. The National Park Service is also a federal partner in the watershed-wide Chesapeake Bay Program. All three connect people with the special places and stories of the Chesapeake, help preserve those special places and stories, and foster stewardship of the Chesapeake. Speakers from the Chesapeake Conservancy will tell us about the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail and how to access and enjoy it. We will also have information about other National Park treasures nearby and around the country.
We're introducing you to Cooper's Hawk Winery and Restaurant, one of the newest dining experiences in the area, and a company that operates 23 winery/restaurants in eight states and has a sustainability ethic.
Tuesday, enter at the ground-level tasting room and then proceed to Green Drinks on the second floor after you've had a look around and maybe a taste of the extensive list of in-house wines.
One of Cooper's Hawk's unique Green initiatives is its recycling/reuse of wine bottles. Using its unique bottle washing machine, they have kept 250 tons of glass out of the landfill.
The Cooper's Hawk concept includes four distinct components: an upscale casual dining restaurant, full-service bar, private barrel-aging room, and Napa-style tasting room and retail gift store...all under one roof. Read more on our website.
At Green Drinks, there will be a cash bar and complimentary appetizers and some surprises provided by Cooper's Hawk.
Green Drinks, organized by Annapolis Green, strives to bring the environmental message to new audiences so everyone is invited to attend, make connections with like-minded people, and learn something new. No RSVP is needed.
Bring your name tag if you have one. And as always, bring any natural (not plastic) corks you'd like us to recycle for you, and literature about your upcoming events.
See you Tuesday!

Yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of Annapolis Green joining the Keep America Beautiful organization as an affiliate. Our operations in waste reduction and recycling are done under the Keep Annapolis Beautiful logo.
Thanks to our status as an affiliate we've been able to apply for several grants through Keep America Beautiful. If we are awarded the grants, you'll hear all about it.
