Today the Leukemia Cup Regatta and Rock the Dock for a Cure Party will not only be a terrific fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, it will also be a Gold Level Clean Regatta, certified by Sailors for the Sea. This is our second consecutive year working with the Leukemia Cup regatta organizers and the host, Eastport Yacht Club with recycling, composting, and spreading the word.
And you can help and enjoy the fun Rock the Dock for a Cure Party, starting at 4 p.m. today!
Volunteers Needed
It's not too late to volunteer for the Leukemia Cup event! We need four to seven caring folks to help with getting the message out at the event and helping Eco-Station "management," that is, helping folks put the recycling in the recycling bin and the compost in the composting bin. This is a fun way to help spread the word about good stewardship practices while "at play," to help reduce the landfill impact our area festivals and events produce AND have a good time while doing it! We like to refer to it as volunteering with benefits (Like that?)! Interested? Send an email to us right away at bay@annapolisgreen.com.
Of course Greening of these events this can't happen without dedicated sponsorship. We'd like to thank Leukemia Cup major sponsor Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation, and sponsor Back Creek Conservancy. To read more about Sailors for the Sea and what makes this a Clean Regatta, about the regatta and party - which is open to the public with live music by Pressing Strings and Swamp Donkey - and about EYC's year-round sustainable practices
Our Eco-Stations will also be in place for EYC's Latitude Adjustment Party (formerly the Spring Cotillion) on Thursday, June 9. That's open to the public too with live music by the Tiki Barbarians and we need Greening volunteers for that too! Read more about the party.

A Big Thank You to Deb Watson
We are so grateful for all the people and businesses who have contributed time, talent, services and products to outfit our Annapolis Green House. We have many people to thank, but we want to single out decorative artist Deborah E. Watson in this email. Deb has applied her considerable talent to turning some of our plain wood furniture into beautiful faux barnwood. trompe l'oeil (French for 'fool the eye'), marbling and woodgraining work.

Free "Beautiful Swimmers Revisited" Screening Monday
7 p.m. Maryland Hall
Join us Monday, June 6, to celebrate Chesapeake Awareness Week by attending our screening of
Beautiful Swimmers Revisited, a film that takes a fresh look at the issues raised in the Pulitzer Prize-winning book published 40 years ago.
The film examines the life of the crab and how it fits into the overall ecology of the Chesapeake Bay and its inhabitants.
In addition to the film screening, several local environmental organizations will present exhibits. And a panel will discuss the making of the film and the issues it presents.
It's free thanks to sponsorship by Annapolis Green, Annapolis Community Foundation, Annapolis Conservancy, Annapolis Environmental Commission, Back Creek Conservancy, Chesapeake Conservancy, and the Spa Creek Conservancy. Of course, your donations will be most appreciated.
