Top of the Line

Tuesday, May 17
5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Dock Bar at Pirate's Cove Waterfront Restaurant
4817 Riverside Drive, Galesville

Theme: Biking & Boating Around the Bay

Save the date for the next Green Drinks, May 17, at Pirate's Cove in Galesville. It will be outside, at the Dock Bar, on a beautiful warm day, we hope!

Pirate's Cove is now owned by the Irish Restaurant Company who also own Galway Bay Irish Pub, Brian Boru, and Killarney House. The fare is still south county seafood-oriented, but with the added skill, flare and sustainability ethic of the company's chefs.

There will be a cash bar and delicious complimentary appetizers. We're asking for a $10 donation for this fun event.

We're going to focus on bicycling as a great and Green way to explore Chesapeake Country. May is National Bike Month, sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities from coast to coast -- including ours! Established in 1956, National Bike Month is a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling - and encourage more folks to giving biking a try.

Bicycle Advocates for Annapolis & Anne Arundel County (BikeAAA) has activities planned in our area for National Bike to Work Week,May 16-20, and Bike to Work Day on May 20. Find out more at Green Drinks.

We're also going to focus on Green boating activities including Greening of regattas and their shoreside parties. For example, folks from the Leukemia Cup regatta (June 3 & 4) will join us to talk about how they are working with Annapolis Green and their hosts, Eastport Yacht Club and Annapolis Yacht Club, to earn a Sailors for the Sea Gold Level Clean Regatta certification. And we're looking for help with this event for a great cause! See the sidebar.

And we'll have some information on how you can Green the operation of your own boat too -- whether you're cruising or racing. It's all for the health of the Bay!

Plan to join us on the beautiful West River at the Dock Bar at Pirate's Cove. You'll love the view, the food, and the company! More details to come.

And on another topic: Join us Sunday at the Maryland Avenue and State Circle Spring Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You'll see our recycling bins on the street. Stop in and see the Petite Green Squares art show and our Green Community Center -- the Annapolis Green House -- at 92 Maryland Avenue... and our May Day basket!
