Be a part of the Green REF!
The festival season is kicking off soon as is our third year of bringing the environmental message to festival organizers, volunteers and participants all over our region. We are looking for sponsors and volunteers.
Get your company name associated with clean water and an eco-friendly community by being a REF sponsor.
We'll match your company's sustainability goals with an upcoming regatta, running race or festival for mutual benefit.
We also need volunteers to help folks attending these events do the right thing -- recycle and compost.

Thank you to our hosts, Baroak at the Loews Annapolis Hotel and our event sponsor, the Oyster Recovery Partnership, for a
terrific Earth Day Celebration.
Our theme was a celebration of the 46th annual Earth Day and the bounty of the Bay last Thursday. About 125 people took part in that celebration with drinks, mussels, live music, fun, and information.
The staff at Baroak and the Loews, Barbara McMahon (hotel general manager), Tracey Lyon-Mercado, Stephen Power, Baroak general manager Jason Bacci and Chef Maria made us most comfortable and provided excellent service and delicious complementary mussels to everyone along with a 20% discount to those of us who stayed for a fabulous dinner. And we really appreciated the free parking provided to Green Drinkers.
We were also delighted that our event coincided with Baroak's live music calendar. As Jason said, "Our weekends start on Thursday." Because of that we were treated to the terrific music Mike Heuer. See our website for the full schedule of Thursday music at Baroak and a link to Mike's website.
The staff members of our event sponsor, the Oyster Recovery Partnership, were very busy telling our crowd about the work they do restoring the oyster population in the Bay. Executive Director Stephan Abel then announced the start of the Old Line Fish Company, which is, essentially, a community

supported agriculture arrangement for seafood. Those who join will pick up a 3-4 lb. box of seafood, right here in Annapolis, every two weeks. This is a great way to
help sustain not only oysters but the men and women who work the water. Read more and sign up. Only 50 shares will be sold this first year.
Particularly on the eve of Earth Day, it was great to get some good news about the Bay. Chesapeake Bay Program Director Nick DiPasquale. He spoke for a few minutes about how many of the measures of the health of the Bay are looking better than they have in years. Read more.

Volunteers Kristi Neidhardt, Lynnette Humphries & MK Richardson
| You know we can't pull off Green Drinks without volunteers. We'd like to thank Sandy Williamson, MK Richardson, Lynette Humphries, and Annapolis Green Board Member Kristi Neidhardt for their help. And a big thank you to Ken Tom for these photographs. Lynnette was spreading the word about our Responsible Events & Festivals program.
See the sidebar.
To those of you who made a donation to Annapolis Green at our event, thank you. We greatly appreciate your support.
And now it's time to take action this Earth Day Weekend! Join GreenScape volunteers and spruce up a public space in your neighborhood this morning then celebrate in West Annapolis, at the dedication of Annapolis' newest park. For a list GreenScape locations and more information, go to our website: Click here.
Save the date for the next Green Drinks, May 17, at Pirate's Cove in Galesville. It will be outside, on a beautiful warm day, we hope!
