Join us on Earth Day Eve as we return to our favorite Baroak at the Loews. We'll focus on how we need to continue to work together to protect the planet that nurtures us and to honor and enjoy the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay.
Our hosts at
Baroak are always up to something new and great. They have added to their live music schedule so now there is early evening music there Thursdays through Saturdays. Thursday music kicks off with our event, so we will benefit from the music of local musician
Mike Heuer. You can read more about Mike and his band and hear some clips of his smooth music
on his website. Go to our website for more info.
Baroak has also made some tweaks to its space, installing ceiling baffles to reduce noise and expanding the bar seating. Their bartenders are rumored to be cooking up a special "green drink" for us and appetizers will reflect the talents of restaurant's inspiration, celebrity Chef Teddy Folkman, and Executive Chef Maria. And there's a new spring menu. Do stay for dinner after Green Drinks.
Baroak's heritage is Belgian, a place where beer is a big part of the culture, and the bar carries 70 different varieties. Baroak's menu showcases its philosophy that beer deserves a place not only on the table, but also in the kitchen. The chef's onion soup features Ommegang Abbey Ale, while beer mussels, a house specialty, spotlight flavorful Belgian witbier.

Our event sponsor is the Oyster Recovery Partnership, a fantastic non-profit that truly makes a difference in the restoration of the Bay. The partnership works closely with the University of Maryland's Horn Point Hatchery. Its staff collects oyster shells from participating restaurants (and at special events) so that oyster spat will have hard surfaces on which to grow and prosper. Over the past 20 years ORP has planted more than 5.9 billion oysters on 2200 acres of local oyster reefs. And now it has entered into a
new project to help sustain not only the oysters but the men and women who work the water. Come to Green Drinks to hear the big announcement about the
Old Line Fish Company. It's a great idea!
We will have a lot of information for you at Green Drinks on ways you can live, work and play in a way that cares for our planet. It's spring... a perfect time for new beginnings including how we relate to the Earth that sustains us.
Join us Thursday, April 21. No RSVP required. Cash bar. No admission, but donations to Annapolis Green are most appreciated.
Let's really honor Earth Day by carpooling, biking or walking to our event and bring your name tag if you have one.
And take action! There are lots of volunteer opportunities in our town, including GreenScape this Saturday.
See our calendar. If you have any info to share about YOUR Earth Day activities, please bring it to Green Drinks.
