Next Month: Revisit, Reuse, Rejoice... a twist with Annapolis Green!(more below) We had a great time last week at
We started out the year venturing just bit out of town to highlight two of our favorite groups and all they do.
Clean water begins with the stewardship of our rivers and streams, and we spotlighted the great work of our friends at the Magothy River Association. This is the 70th anniversary year of this all-volunteer group representing 46 communities along the Magothy River Watershed. It devotes its efforts to projects that protect the welfare of the river and its inhabitants.
Our other favorite is the Irish Restaurant Company and the example the company sets for our community in its sustainable efforts, philanthropy and just great food and drink. We know and love Galway Bay Irish Pub and Killarney House, but a visit to Brian Boru was overdue.
Thank you to owners Anthony Clarke and Michael Galway, as well as the staff, for the hospitality. The great food included local oysters, Irish favorite Shepherd's Pie, and other tasty appetizers. Learn more about the Irish Restaurant Company's Sustainable Practices.
We hope everyone picked up the information Magothy River Association Paul Spadaro gave us on the organization's initiative, including a floating garden "gizmo" (our word, not MRA's) that would make a unique Mother's Day gift. We'll have more details on that as we get closer to May. The important part is that the roots of floating plants will help to remove the pollution from the water they are floating in.
We also brought you up to date on the Annapolis Green House at 92 Maryland Avenue. We're transforming that charming space and hope you'll be a part of it. We love organizing our Green Drinks events. Nothing beats that person-to-person connection!
Save the date for our next Green Drinks on Tuesday, Feb. 16
at Pussers Caribbean Grille
at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel
Tuesday, Feb. 16 Our theme is: Revisit, Reuse, Rejoice!
February will be a big month for Annapolis Green. There's lots to share that will shape this upcoming year for Annapolis Green. So, we're twisting the usual 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) like this:
Revisit - The Annapolis Waterfront Hotel. Yes, although still affiliated with Marriott, the hotel is celebrating its uniqueness and amazing re-branding and interior redesign. It's must see. Revisit the hotel and Pussers Caribbean Grille with us at Green Drinks!
Reuse - In this case, we're talking designing and furniture of our new office space. While attending the hotel's re-branding open house a few weeks ago, we met its amazing designers - Reiter Interiors. And, you guessed it, Reiter is helping us design the Annapolis Green House!
Rejoice - Did you know it's the 10th Anniversary of Green Drinks Annapolis? On February 28, 2006, as a birthday present to herself, Lynne gathered about 20 people over a drink at the Rockfish (with warm memories of the late Charlie Bauer). We will be toasting our fabulous community and good things to come with updates on the Annapolis Green House opening this month! See you on February 16!
Here's a warm welcome to our newest Founding One Hundred sponsor: Architect Steve Kahle of SKA Studio. Welcome aboard!
