Tomorrow Wednesday, January 13
Brian Boru Restaurant and Pub 489 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Yes, we're kicking off the year venturing just a short bit out of town to highlight two of our favorite groups and all they do. Clean water begins with the stewardship of our rivers and streams, and we are spotlighting the great work of our friends at the Magothy River Association. This is the 70th anniversary year of this all-volunteer group representing 46 communities along the Magothy River Watershed. It devotes its efforts to projects that protect the welfare of the river and its inhabitants. And, we also can't stop enjoying the Irish Restaurant Company and the example the company sets for our community in its sustainable efforts, philanthropy and just great food and drink. We know and love Galway Bay Irish Pub and Killarney House, but a visit to Brian Boru is overdue. We'll also bring you up to date on the Annapolis Green House at 92 Maryland Avenue. We're transforming that charming space and hope you'll be a part of it. Tomorrow we'll take in-person orders for our barrel staves. Read more below. We will enjoy delicious appetizers, courtesy of Brian Boru, including local oysters. Brian Boru features Irish Pub fare served at its best, great local seafood dishes, hearty prime rib and other chop house offerings and fresh tasty salads... and of course, well poured pints of your favorite draft. Learn more about the Irish Restaurant Company's Sustainable Practices.
The company also owns Pirate's Cove in Galesville where the West/Rhode Riverkeeper will hold an Eco-Quiz Night on Jan. 19.
So come and learn about the issues facing the Magothy River and what the Association has accomplished in its 70 years. (If you can't make it, listen to our interview with MRA President Paul Spadaro and long-time member Sally Hornor, PhD, on Living Green in Annapolis on WNAV tomorrow at 6 p.m.)
No admission charge. Cash bar. No RSVP required. It's just a short drive from Annapolis to Severna Park. See you at Green Drinks tomorrow! Kick off the New Year with us!

Things are moving along at the
Annapolis Green House 92 Maryland Avenue
Last week we made amazing progress in our new office/eco-community center.
Thanks to our local connections, especially those from the Annapolis Design District, we'll soon be reporting exciting projects with Beers Flooring, Reiter Interiors, Regal Paint Center (and Benjamin Moore Paints; Did you know they have a color called Annapolis Green), architect Steve Kahle of SKA Studio, and FastSigns. Larry Beers and his crew will start our floor refinishing is tomorrow. Hooray! We also welcome our new office mate! We've sublet one office in our space to the Friends of Deep Creek Lake organization, like-minded folks from Garrett County.
We hope to be open and ready for business on or about January 22.
And with the General Assembly convening tomorrow, we are anxious to get up and running soon, welcoming delegates and senators, environmentalists, business people, and citizens to our eco-community center -- just across the street from the State House. Friday, Speaker Mike Busch stopped by and signed our Welcome Wall. Read more below about that wall! |
Start with a Stave!
A Functional & Furnishing Fundraiser for the Annapolis Green House!
