Blue Friday
Our friends at SpinSheet and PropTalk have a great idea to take the commercialism out of the holidays. And we agree.
"We don't know about you, but we're ready for everything Black Friday-related to just go the way of garden gnomes, Skidz, and Tab soda. That is, we're ready for it to just go away," they said.
Read about their Blue Friday Revolution. It involves you, a camera, and no insanity in a crush of humanity at a big box store on Friday. And it's fun! Read more.

Finally! We have a place to call our own... our "Miracle on Maryland Avenue."
On Thursday, Dec. 10, during Midnight Madness II, we are planning to welcome you to the Annapolis Green House
at 92 Maryland Avenue for an open house and celebration, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Our Annapolis Green House will be more than just our office...
The Annapolis Green House will be the first Green community center of its kind in our historic town, where organizations can meet, showcase their products and services, and together build a sustainable community. And of course, it will also serve as our much-needed office. With a prominent, downtown first-floor location in the shadow of the State House, our end-unit rental is welcoming and filled with character. At the intersection of Maryland Avenue and State Circle, we'll benefit from considerable foot traffic and proximity to city, county, and state offices. Parking is available at several garages nearby. Main Street and the US Naval Academy are a short walk away. We will be joining the community-oriented Maryland Avenue and State Circle Association. Many are Green-minded businesses, including a Founding 100 sponsor, Galway Bay Irish Pub. The commercial area is surrounded by private homes and many residents are members of the very active Ward One Association. Our space consists of three rooms, one of which will be our community center/conference room, another our office and the third - with a separate entrance - will be sub-let to an appropriate business or organization. We also have multiple display opportunities with a front entrance porch and picture window, small foyer/reception area, full basement for storage, and a charming porch and garden overlooking the State House.
For the last eight years, it has the office of Watermark Journey, our newest Founding One Hundred sponsor. Our Vision for The Annapolis Green House The Annapolis Green House will provide Annapolis Green a physical presence in the community that will cement its place as an established non-profit organization. Obtaining this location at this time coincides with Annapolis Green's transition from LLC status -- operating as a non-profit under the fiscal umbrella of the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay -- to reorganizing as a Maryland corporation and filing for non-profit status with the IRS. This process is underway now and should be completed before the end of the year. Further, physical space will allow Annapolis Green to enlist the services of an intern and other volunteers to accomplish tasks such as program planning, grant writing, administrative tasks, etc. So join us for our special event on December 10. Once we get settled we'll have a wish list a mile long for furniture, supplies, and everything that to make it work. We are grateful for all the contributions you've made to Annapolis Green over the years to make this big step possible. Remember, this is YOUR community center. We hope you'll adopt it as your own and stop in often to learn, get ideas, promote your business, and more. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. We sure will!

Come Support "The Miracle... on Maryland Avenue!" It's the Annapolis Green-themed tree at this terrific new tradition hosted by Homestead Gardens.
We're kicking off our holiday season by participating in the Rotary Club of South Anne Arundel County's second annual Lights of Kindness event, Thursday, December 3 through Sunday, December 6, at Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville.
Join us for the official kick-off reception on Thursday Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. with Complimentary Drinks, Light Refreshments, Professional Networking, and VOTING!
Lights of Kindness is a unique and magical Christmas tree decorating contest. We and the other participating charities will decorate trees that will be displayed at Homestead Gardens during regular business hours. Visitors are invited to tour the holiday forest and vote for their favorite tree (and the charity represented) to raise awareness and funds for the charity.
We'd love for you to join us on Dec. 3, but you'll have the opportunity to vote online too, as of that date, at this link.
Just wait for us to unveil our tree... yes, yes, very Green, but we'e having a bit of fun with our movie inspiration! All of our ornaments will be made from natural or recycled or repurposed materials and by local, independent merchants on Maryland Avenue and State Circle! Sponsoring our entry is Galway Bay Irish Pub. Thank you!
The goal of this event is to raise awareness of the work of charities, non-profits and businesses that strive to make our community a better place. The trees will be adorned with homemade ornaments unique to the businesses and the charity they support.
Come out and support us and share the info on your social media networks #lightsofkindness. You'll also get to see the tree again... at our Open House!
