Plantathon a Great Success
The Spa Creek Conservancy's Hawkins Cove project is working as a catalyst to bring together the entire community in this part of the Spa Creek watershed, including residents of Eastport Terrace and Harbour House.
Last Saturday community members, kids and adults, helped plant 40 native trees to beautify the neighborhood and treat stormwater runoff into the creek. Great work!

Annapolis Running Classic & Annapolis Oyster Classic
November 21
The Annapolis Running Classic promises to be a terrific event and it's our latest REF (Responsible Events & Festivals) initiative. It which includes a half-marathon and a 10k race, following a course that begins and ends at the Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and winds through Historic Downtown Annapolis, with the half marathon crossing the Severn River over the Naval Academy Bridge. You'll see our recycling and composting bins at the race, the post-race party and the Oyster Classic that follows. See below.
Following the race, the event continues in the main tent with the post-race party that includes hot soup for the runners and grilled and raw oysters for all. Live music keeps the party going. And, everybody is invited to the party - whether your run or not.
The Annapolis Running Classic has donated over $200,000 to local Annapolis and Anne Arundel County organizations over the past four years including the Anne Arundel Medical Center's Community Health Center, Maryland Food Link, Annapolis Wellness House, Seeds4Sucess as well as to the USO. Read more.
Letting the runners get some rest for a few hours, the Annapolis Oyster Classic begins later tomorrow afternoon and everyone is invited. It's a big festival under a heated big-top tent, with local music, fresh oysters and upscale beer and wine to enhance the flavor of our beloved bivalves. Also held at the Stadium, the Annapolis Oyster Classic runs from from 3 to 9 p.m. Bands include The Eastport Oyster Boys, Timmie Metz Band, and Dublin 5. Read more. Great fun under the big top!
Mid Atlantic Gem will provide the race pace car and is offering rides! What a great way to see all the running action from the comfort of an all-electric, zero-emissions vehicle. Look for the pace car raffle sale at the start tomorrow morning!
Annapolis Green is providing recycling and composting at the race start and finish and finishers party AND for the Annapolis Oyster Classic, thanks to the generosity of the event organizer, Second Wind Productions, and to our Greening sponsors:
