Our "Be Local Tea Party"
was fun & cozy

Thank you to our event host

77 Main Street, Annapolis
for wonderful hospitality

And to our Event Sponsor
Historic Annapolis _ by Candlelight

We celebrated our own historic "tea party," in our own local way, by holding Green Drinks -- sponsored by Historic Annapolis -- in the historic 77 Main Street Warehouse now occupied by Capital Teas.   It was cozy in Capital Teas' backyard. Thanks to everyone who attended.

pumpkin spice teaOur hosts, Peter and Manelle Martino, and their staff showcased a selection of their organic teas and showed us how infusing wine (VinoTeano) and beer (TeaAle) with the right flavor of tea is delicious. Who knew? Green Drinkers were also invited to visit Capital Teas' sister store, Sugar Daddy Spicy Mama, nearby at Cornhill Street, where Capital Teas -- now a multi-store success story -- started out.

Historic Annapolis was present to encourage Green Drinkers to take part in Annapolis by Candlelight, tonight and tomorrow night. Buy a ticket and you'll see some of the city's finest architecture during this annual  evening walking tour of private and historic homes.

Special Offer: Become a member of Historic Annapolis at the $100 level or higher and receive two complimentary Candlelight tickets. | Read more.

mills cafe normandie Jen and Jerry Donahoe, owners of local business Mills Fine Wine & Spirits made a great selection of beer and wine for us -- served up by our bartender extraordinaire, Greg Perry.

The delicious appetizers were provided by Cafe Normandie, one of the Annapolis by Candlelight participating restaurants, offering 15% off tonight and tomorrow night to Candlelight participants. Thank you to owner Jean Louis!

Also thank you to Miss Nancy's Fancy Bakery for mouth-watering desserts... another local business! Visit her website for photos of wedding and special occasion cakes.

If you didn't get your LED wine glass at Green Drinks you can order directly from Orca Green Marine. Let's make it a practice to bring them to Green Drinks from now on to cut down (or eliminate) use of plastic glasses. We are working on eliminating single-use plastic altogether for future events.

Lot of good things happen at Green Drinks. We know that Tuesday several serendipitous introductions were made that might result in new jobs for a couple of people and collaborations for others.

We don't have a December event lined up yet, so stay tuned. We might just have a big surprise for you!

RUN THE 10K ACROSS THE BAY ON OUR TEAM!

We salute the Across the Bay 10K (to be held Sunday) for its efforts to make the race as environmentally sound as possible. Last year Annapolis Green participated by providing composting and recycling services at the inaugural race. We also introduced and sold the HydraPouch to runners to make it easy to fulfill the race's goal of being "cup-free."

Did you know that the Across the Bay 10K is one of the largest races to go cup-free?

This year we are ramping up the awareness about cup-free racing and promoting the idea because cup-free racing IS the responsible way to operate foot races -- without the litter and waste of paper cups (or even worse, plastic cups) at hydration stations.

Going cup-free is not only cleaner (look at this photo to see the type of mess created by a lot of races), it reduces the dangerous slipperiness at hydration stations.

This year, we are participating by registering a charity fundraiser! The Run Responsibly with Annapolis Green "Team" will raise funds to help us keep the Run Responsibly momentum going, reaching out to the many foot races in our area. Click here to check our our team page.

Won't you join us & run the bridge or donate to be part of our team?

Even if you already have signed up and purchased a bib, you can still donate to be part of our team. Just click on the link to our page, above.

To help you go cup-free easily, try out an Annapolis Green Run Responsibly HydraPouch, pictured at right. They are almost weightless and they clip on your belt or pants until you're ready to fill up at the next hydration station. Interested? Just click to send us an email and we'll get one (or more!) to you right away. Just $10. Or click annapolis running shophere to buy online. Or, buy them at the Annapolis Running Shop, 172 Main Street.

It takes both organizers and runners to make running a big race like this an environmentally responsible event. Learn more about how we can do our part by reduce the wasteful paper cups and re-thinking the water stations.
