What's in the Water: The Growing Threat of Plastic in the Ocean and the Bay
Tuesday, October 13
7 p.m.
Annapolis Maritime Museum
We had to postpone our presentation (originally scheduled for August 18) so we could get a strong panel of speakers aboard to discuss the growing threat of plastic in the ocean and in the Bay. The extent of this material -- which NEVER goes away -- is serious as begins to enter the food chain.
Save the date for this eye-opening presentation. Details to come.

Yes, yes, we're channeling 30 years since the release of the iconic movie... but the phrase holds true. Join us at the historic Charles Carroll House where we'll explore and enjoy Annapolis' past while looking to the future... as we showcase the future in the form of the students in St. Mary's environmental programs.
History is important to our community. The Charles Carroll House, home to a signer of the Declaration of Independence, is a magnificent example of the cultural heritage we are so lucky to have in Annapolis. As the City of Annapolis studies our cultural heritage and works out ways to protect important properties from storms, fire, earthquakes and rising sea level, here are a few quotes from residents:
"I think it's what Annapolis stands for. To be able to see the State House at one end and the water at the other end is a beautiful sight."
Annapolis is: "Original, Authentic, Historic."
City of Annapolis Historic Preservation head Lisa Craig will tell us more about the study and what the city is doing to plan for disasters.
Looking to the future, we will hear about St. Mary's High School's Environmental Studies Program that is creating a new generation of stewards of our environment. Read more about the school's program.
Former state senator Gerald Winegrad will lead small group tours of the environmental features of the school grounds and parking lot -- many of which were installed with the assistance of the Spa Creek Conservancy.
Appetizers will be provided by Palate Pleasers.
Parking: Please note that parking will be on the street or in the Hillsman garage nearby. The St. Mary's parking lot will NOT be available to Green Drinkers because our event coincides with Back to School Night at the school.
We'll have more details next week. Save the date!

Support Buy a Lady a Drink
Stella Artois Chalices Back in Stock
At the April Green Drinks we introduced you to the Buy a Lady a Drink Campaign, a Stella Artois/Water.org campaign to drive awareness of the global water crisis and help provide solutions so that woman in developing countries can obtain clean water for their families close to home.
The principal way these organizations raise funds for the campaign is through the sale of specially engraved Stella chalices. At the time of Green Drinks they were out of stock but thanks to Neal Katcef of Katcef Brothers, distributors of Stella Artois, every Green Drinker was given a chalice (a $12 value).
Want to make it a set and support this important campaign? For every chalice shipped and sold by Amazon.com, Stella Artois will donate FIVE YEARS of clean drinking water to a women in the developing world. Donations will not be made in connection with chalices sold by sellers other than Amazon.com.
Click on the image above to purchase chalices. It is a great, easy way to support women and their families and have a lovely keepsake too!
