We're looking forward to returning to the Charles Carroll House, a magnificent example of the cultural heritage we are so lucky to have in Annapolis. It was home three generations and a Founding Father! Stay tuned for details and save the date!

Just because we're taking a break from Green Drinks in August doesn't mean we're loafing! Read below about our August 18 presentation about plastic in the oceans and in the Bay.

70th Annual Rotary Crab Feast
From the Bay to the Earth
Today, Friday, Aug. 7

We are working with the Annapolis Rotary to make the iconic 70th Annual Crab Feast a "Bay Responsible," Zero-Waste event through our Responsible Events & Festivals Program (The Green REF... Make the Right Call).

Last year we composted over 20,000 pounds of food waste from the Crab Feast and it will be even more this year because we connected Rotary with Baltimore company Leonard Paper to obtain compostables.

That means that this year EVERYTHING except recyclable beverage cups and bottles will be composted. Compostables include knives, forks, spoons, trays, plates, and paper goods. Congratulations to Rotary for its commitment to the environment!

We will be there making sure that recyclables go into our blue Keep America Beautiful bins and that compostables go into Veteran Compost's totes. This year ALL waste/trash will fit into one of these categories so NOTHING will go to the landfill!

Close to 2500 feasters are expected to enjoy the bounty of the summer at the Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium this evening from 5 to 8 p.m. You can buy tickets online or at the gate.

Look for the silver Green Team shirts at the Crab Feast to find us and our volunteers. We'll also have an information table for "educated" crab picking!

Come see us in action. Or better yet, want to join the fun as a volunteer? We could use a few more hands on our Green Team. But we'll need to hear from you by noon today! Email your interest to bay@annapolisgreen.com
