Theme
It Takes a Village: Art, Oysters & Tea
Event Sponsor
Green Drinks will highlight how all aspects of our community come together in stewardship and beautification to create a vibrant and Green town.
Our venue will be different this time because we have three co-hosts: Gallery 3976, the Oyster Recovery Partnership, and Capital Teas in the Annapolis Design District. Hence, our theme: Art, Oysters & Tea! This demonstrates how artists, non-profits, commercial companies, and citizens, all have a role to play in taking care of our land and waterways. The Design District is a new area for us -- and one that is home to many creative businesses and non-profits including our hosts. Check it our online and in person at Green Drinks!
Members of the Annapolis Design District are interested in Greening the area and we will have information on how beautification and landscaping increase property values and attract customers. (Beautification is a core component of Annapolis Green's "Keep Annapolis Beautiful" initiative as an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful.) In fact, the Annapolis Design District organization has launched an "Upcycle Planters Competition" asking members to come up with and install "fun, funky, and noteworthy" planters in front of their locations. "All materials must be recycled and should include planted material." It will be fun to see how it turns out! Prizes will be awarded at the organization's Art in Action event on Sept. 26. | flyer
The just off Chinquapin Round Road, the Design District is at the headwaters of Spa Creek and volunteers from the Spa Creek Conservancy will explain how runoff from roads and parking lots affects the health of the creek. We are asking Green Drinkers for a donation of $10 admission this time to help us cover our costs.
Complimentary light appetizers will be served by Julie St. Marie Catering & Event Coordination. Capital Teas will provide samples of its refreshing brewed iced teas. Green Drinkers will select from various types of Flying Dog beer available for a donation, provided by event sponsor Flying Dog Brewery. We hope you'll choose Pearl Necklace Oyster Stout because every bottle sold enables the Oyster Recovery Partnership plant 10 oysters in the Bay! Learn more. And, wine will be available for a donation. And, in a new twist for us, we've invited CrabTown Curbs Cuisine -- the turquoise food truck -- to offer tasty food and soft drinks for purchase. And there will be music! Local award-winning singer-songwriter-guitarist Dirk Schwenk will get us in a summertime mood with his cool tunes. Check him out online!
We hope to see you there!

Protecting Out Historic Seaport from Disasters
Join the Weather it Together Team and learn how you can better protect your property or business against potential damages from a major storm or other natural disaster.
What actions can you take to minimize the impact of a Sandy or Isabel type event on your business or family? What are the places that matter most to you and how do you see the City playing a role in protecting our community landmarks?
Share your views on July 9 and before by taking a quick survey. Click here.
Preliminary results from the online "This Place Matters" survey will be shared along with a drawing sponsored by the MainStreets Annapolis Partnership. Refreshments will be served. Pre-registration to the town hall meeting is requested.
