A FUNdraiser for Annapolis Green was a big hit - and is now a new tradition
Who knew Green Drinkers and other environmentalists are such trivia fans... and so competitive? It was a blast!
Close to 100 people played at the inaugural Green Trivia. We plan to make this a new tradition at Galway Bay Irish Pub. There was no lack of environmental "brilliance" along with team names such as "Small Minds," "Baby's First Happy Hour," "The Composters," "The Regulators," "Green Drunks," "Chicken Litters," and "Chesapeake Babes." You'll want to join in next time! Lots of people enjoyed Galway's delicious three-course fundraising meal, everybody had fun and everybody learned something new! We can't thank the crew at Galway enough -- the attentive servers and Gary, Michael, Sean and Anthony. Galway provided gift cards for first, second and third place winning teams. And thank you to Bay Ridge Wine and Spirits for donating bottles of organic wine for the first and second place teams. This was a very knowledgeable group, and yes, there were some ringers -- several Master Watershed Stewards and the executive directors of 1000 Friends of Maryland, Trash Free Maryland Alliance, and the Maryland League of Conservation Voters! Everyone said "do it again!" and we will. For next time, West/Rhode Riverkeeper Jeff Holland has challenged the other Riverkeepers. In case you're curious -- we will post the questions (and answers) on our website later today. |
Save the Date! Green Drinks Returns to Garden! Thurs., March 19
Why wouldn't we want to return to the warmth and beauty of Homestead Gardens for the 7th consecutive year? If you've never joined us before at Homestead, you must. It's our most-anticipated Green Drinks.
Our event is in the midst of "Celebrate Maryland 2015 Flower Show," showcasing the rich heritage of our state. As we experience a miniature Maryland (with displays and information about Seaside Living, Agrarian Living, Annapolis Living, Urban Living, and Mountain Living) we'll also celebrate a new and exciting partnership between Annapolis Green and Homestead Gardens!. Stay tuned!
Our theme will be Project Clean Stream, the Great American Cleanup and GreenScape. Our event sponsor will be the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.
Save the date! More details to come.

What Has Annapolis Green Been Up To?
We're working on becoming a Keep America Beautiful Affiliate by assessing the litter level in the community, by studying where fit into the sustainability community in this area, and determining what our final organization structure will look like. We will have more information about this on our website soon.
We're joining this venerable organization because of the great opportunities it offers us, for the good of the community, in the form of program grants; state, regional and national collaborations; and more.
Want to help us do this? We need volunteers for a litter survey and an assessment of other sustainability groups in our community and how Annapolis Green fits in. If you'd like to be involved, send us an email.
