We hope you had a wonderful Green holiday with family and friends.
In the past month or so we took our Greening message to a wide audience: the 20,000 runners who participated in the Across the Bay 10K. We'll tell you about that, but first, we want to recap our last Green Drinks, held November 6, at Great Frogs Winery.
We are so grateful for the hospitality of winemakers Andrea and Nate O'Shea and their staff in early November, particularly on such a raw and rainy night. In spite of the weather, we had a great showing of people who wanted to see the vineyard and taste the award-winning wines. Be sure to visit Great Frogs' website for online ordering. - think holiday gifts! Great Frogs wines also are
available at many local liquor stores and restaurants.
Everyone raved about the food provided by La Prima Catering. La Prima has a four-star rating from the Green Restaurant Association and takes great pride in its environmental standing. La Prima Catering emphasizes quality and healthy food using fresh, natural ingredients in all its recipes. View La Prima's Sustainability Initiatives.
La Prima served fresh ingredients -- many from Groundworks Farm on the Eastern Shore. The farm has a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program for the winter season. The pickup site in Annapolis is at Vin 909 in Eastport. Learn more. http://www.groundworksfarm.com/winter-farm-shares/
We'd like to give a big thank you to 1 North Wealth Services, a different kind of investment advisor, for sponsoring Green Drinks that night. Please visit the company's website for information about the financial services offered by the 1 North team.
Of course, we can't pull off Green Drinks without volunteers. We'd like to thank the folks who helped us set up, greet arriving Green Drinkers, and break down. A big thanks especially to Tom Cagle, Nancy Monza, and Cara Visconti, and also to Karin Hannah Stern and Leslie Trott.
We'll let you know when the next Green Drinks event will take place.

Across the Bay 10K & Run Responsibly
At Green Drinks we introduced our Run Responsibly(TM) Campaign which we launched just a few days later at the Across the Bay 10K run across the Bay Bridge because we believe there is a natural connection between outdoor sports and recreation and caring for the environment. We designed Run Responsibly(TM) to connect racers and spectators to the national treasure that is the Chesapeake Bay to encourage good stewardship. In addition to providing recycling and composting to the Runners' Expo and the Finishers' Party - thanks to a grant from BGE - we introduced a product that supported the "cup-free" mandate established by the race organizers to reduce litter and waste.
We were able to offer the HydraPouch® to runners at the Race Expo as an alternative to bottles and other containers, thanks to sponsorship from Maryland State Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Maryland Sports, and the Chesapeake Conservancy. The HydraPouch® is an almost weightless, flexible pouch that clips onto the runner's clothing and works perfectly with the "fast-fill-up" HydraPour® nozzles that race organizers used to provide water to runners. Each pouch we sold, branded with the Run Responsibly(TM) logo and the Maryland State Advisory Council on Physical Fitness logo, contained a "message in a pouch" card with information about Bay conservation from the Chesapeake Conservancy.
We'd also like to thank Bay Area Disposal for a partnering with us on proper disposal of trash and recycling at the Across the Bay 10K and the MRE Tug of War (see below). We are delighted to count them in as an important Greening partner! Thank you Greg and Brett! Composting was provided by Veteran Compost. Thank you, Justen for your continued support. Thank you also to the volunteers who helped us get ready for the Runners' Expo: Meghan Matthews (who also ran the race and helped us with clean-up), Rita Calvert, Lynn Fitzgerald, Sandy Williamson, Leslie Trott, and Karin Hannah Stern.
Are you looking for a holiday gift for the long-distance runner in your life? Consider buying a HydraPouch®. Send us an email to buy directly from us, buy at Fleet Feet Sports in Annapolis and Severna Park or the A nnapolis Running Shop on Main Street, or buy online by clicking here. You'll give a unique gift and you'll support us!
