Thursday, Oct. 2
5 - 7:30 p.m.
(starting a little earlier than usual) Eastport Yacht Club 317 First Street, Annapolis ThemeAnnapolis' First Green and Clean Regatta Event Sponsor
We are delighted to partner with Eastport Yacht Club's Green Team to present Green Drinks during its J/80 World Championship regatta. The Club is working hard to have this event certified as a Gold-level Clean Regatta by Sailors for the Sea, the same organization that Greened the last America's Cup. That means that a lot of best practices are being implemented -- all to the benefit of the Chesapeake Bay. EYC asked us to participate under our REF program (Responsible Events & Festivals... Make the Right Call!) and we are bringing in recycling and composting. With their new very eco-forward Club house, EYC will be using this week to pilot both full-scale recycling and composting. We congratulate them! Read about EYC's environmental stewardship practices. A big thank you to Mercedes Benz of Annapolis for sponsoring this edition of Green Drinks! We're excited to partner with our local dealership, and want you to know that they have two eco-friendly, electric drive models: the brand new B-Class and the Smart electric drive.
A special treat!
As part of Green Drinks, sailor, explorer, and environmentalist Matt Rutherford will speak at 5 p.m. about his adventures and his Ocean Research Project, to measure pollution in our oceans. Don't miss it! Matt is a compelling speaker! There will also be a short presentation by Sailors for the Sea.
We'll have more details for you soon, but save the date and be sure to get there by 5 to hear Matt! By the way, you can hear a recent interview with Matt on Living Green in Annapolis on WNAV. Just check here.
