Annapolis Green on MPT Tonight
As part of Chesapeake Bay Week, we were asked to be part of Your Money Your Business on Maryland Public Television, along with Dick Franyo of the Boatyard Bar & Grill and Stuart Chaney of Herrington Harbor. We discussed how and why businesses Go Green. It will air tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Very Important
This Saturday is Drug Take Back Day
Don't flush unwanted or outdated medications. The substances get into our waterways -- whether through septics or sewage treatment plants. Then the fish ingest them and they go up the food chain to us and into our drinking water. Dispose of them properly this Saturday by taking them to the City or County police stations.
It's one good thing you can do for our rivers, the Bay, and your own health.

What a blast last night at
It was our "Every Day is Earth Day" networking happy hour for those who are passionate about the environment and it was an enlightening evening.
Theme: Climate Change
We had tons of handouts to help Green Drinkers learn more about Climate Change, including
- a fabulous poster produced by National Geographic and provided to us by the Chesapeake Conservancy. Titled Sea Level, Climate Change and the Chesapeake Bay, it demonstrates the effect of sea level rise on Bay country
- two handouts on flood-resistant building and rebuilding provided by the Maryland Chesapeake and Coastal Service in Cooperation with NOAA that shows homeowners how to stay safe and save money on flood insurance
- handouts from our event sponsor, the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, about climate change problems and solutions
We also had copies of the April issue of What's Up Annapolis magazine, featuring a story about stormwater restoration projects including the Cabin Branch project spearheaded by Severn Riverkeeper Fred Kelly who was in attendance.
And we had copies of Bay Journeys, provided by the Chesapeake Conservancy, a terrific guide to the nearby outdoors.
If you couldn't make it to Green Drinks, we can send you these publications. Just send us an email.
There are links on our website to a number of videos that will educate you about climate change.Click here.
Our Climate Change experts, John Murray and Ellen Moyer, who were trained by Al Gore as part of the Climate Reality Project, spoke for a bit and discussed the issues with many Green Drinkers.
Event Sponsor: Get to Know Them & Say Thanks!
This edition of Green Drinks was sponsored by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN), the first grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting global warming in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Its mission is to build and mobilize a powerful grassroots movement in this unique region that surrounds our nation's capital to call for state, national and international policies that will put us on a path to climate stability.
Event Host: Eat & Drink at Loews
Green Drinks' host, the Loews Annapolis Hotel and WEST Kitchen & Tavern are both partners of Maryland Green Travel. They have instituted many sustainable practices including recycling, water conservation, minimizing disposable food service items, waste reduction, and energy efficiency, among others. Read more.
The Loews' Green Team made quite a splash at Green Drinks led by "Lucky," who performed the first-ever Green Drinks rap! His lyrics were about saving the planet with energy efficiency and he was a hit. Now there's a guy who is passionate about his work and about being good to the Earth. Thank you so much to Loews General Manager Barbara McMahon and her entire staff for the terrific appetizers, the drink specials, and the free parking... and the 20% of dinner! New Founding One Hundred Sponsors We were very happy to introduce representatives from two of our newest Founding One Hundred sponsors: EP Henry and MOM's Organic Market. Click on the links to their companies and check them out. Then, think about getting on that exclusive list of Founding One Hundreds yourself. | read more | You can make your $1000 donation in installments if you like. That's what Severn Riverkeeper Fred Kelly is doing. He handed us his sixth $100 check just last night. And finally, thank you to Leslie Trott Gibbons-Neff for helping us set up and greet people as they arrived. Next Green Drinks
Save the date: Tuesday, May 27, we'll be at Cafe Mezzanotte in Severna Park. The cafe is Going Green and we're helping them do so. More details to come!

We know connections and business deals are being made at Green Drinks as well as many friendships. But we need to hear your stories and testimonials. Please take a moment to let us know how attending Green Drinks has affected you! Send us an email.

Boat Show Recycling
Looks like we've started something.
In October we brought recycling to the boat shows in Annapolis at no cost to the shows thanks to grants from the BoatUS Foundation and BGE. Our brightly colored bins were everywhere within the shows and the effort was enthusiastically received by exhibitors and the public alike. Starting with the Spring boat show that opens this weekend, show management will present its own recycle and trash bins and conduct the recycling effort on its own.
Annapolis Green has been a loud voice for appropriate waste and recycling strategies at special events. We are pleased that what we started will continue with the boat shows joining in the spirit of our efforts and doing good for the Bay!

Annapolis in Bloom
Contribute to and be proud of Annapolis in Bloom -- the Annapolis hanging flowers you'll see in downtown Annapolis, Maryland Avenue, Francis Street, West Street, and on the Spa Creek Bridge. The MainStreets Annapolis Partnership is heading up the crowdfunding effort for the flowers, which are provided, at-cost, by Homestead Gardens. The effort was kicked off at Green Drinks last month! Here's your chance to participate to make Annapolis Green, Clean and Beautiful! Every contribution helps. Read more.
