Comment Period Open on Draft Watershed Agreement
Nearly 30 years after the first multi-state Chesapeake Bay agreement was signed the Federal Chesapeake Bay Program is seeking comments on a new, draft plan. The draft is designed to "guide partners in the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay and recommit stakeholders to conservation success." It establishes new goals to address "water quality, fisheries and habitat, land conservation, public access and environmental literacy." The states that are signatories to the current agreement are Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia and Delaware. The District of Columbia is a signatory as is the Chesapeake Bay Commission and the EPA.
The comment period closes on March 17 and you can present your input at a meeting of the Management Board on March 13. Learn more.

Read CBF's New Report on Polluted Runoff
With the challenge of reducing urban and suburban runoff at the forefront of discussions at all levels of government, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) yesterday released a new report: Polluted Runoff: How Investing in Runoff Pollution Control Systems Improves the Region's Ecology, Economy, and Health. The purpose of this report is to shed light on the problem, debunk myths around the costs of solutions, and call for actions to be taken that will reduce the damage of polluted runoff. Read more and listen to our radio program, Living Green in Annapolis, with guest Tom Pelton, the report's author.

Drawing for a Free Solar System for a Business
-- For New Founding One Hundred Sponsors!
Have you been considering supporting Annapolis Green by becoming a Founding One Hundred sponsor? Here is an unbelievable incentive that will not only support us, but will save you money and bring you clean solar power for your business!
RER Energy Group is offering to build a FREE solar PV system for one new Founding One Hundred sponsor! "The system will be offered to one business that becomes an Annapolis Green Founding Member between February 26 and March 19, 2014," said Dennis Satnick, Senior Consultant for RER. "A minimum 40kW system is being offered to create better understanding of the annual electric bill savings and illustrate how solar PV systems can be built with no capital outlay."
The new sponsors' names will be put into a flower basket and a drawing will be held at Green Drinks on March 19 at Homestead Gardens. Read more

It's Outrageous!
States as far away as Alaska and Florida are trying to derail Chesapeake Bay restoration. Why? Because they might have to clean up their own waterways!
Last September a federal judge ruled against the American Farm Bureau in a suit challenging the EPA's imposition of a pollution "diet" or blueprint for Chesapeake Bay restoration. It was declared a victory for the Bay. But the Farm Bureau did not give up. It has recruited 21 states to join in on another challenge to the plan. The states involved include Montana, Kansas, Michigan, and more. Are you outraged? We are. Here's what you can do. Read more on the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's website and sign the petition against this suit. Click here.If you have friends or family in any of the 21 states, ask them to contact their representatives to ask that they stop this.
