Despite snow and cold that foiled our great Maryland Environmental Legislative Summit Green Drinks After Party, we're excited about what the year has in store for us and are fast-forwarding to the next Green Drinks: February 26!
Sadly, the combination of a time shift due to snow and "no room at the inn" made it impossible to collaborate with the Summit planners this year. We certainly look forward to a Green Drinks After-Party next year so we can "continue the conversation" begun at the 2015 Summit.
For this year, be sure to attend the all-important, re-scheduled Summit:
Tuesday, Feb. 11 5:30 - 7 p.m. Miller Senate Building 11 Bladen Street.
We hope you will attend -- we will!

And now for the February Green Drinks!
Wednesday, Feb. 26
5:30 - 7:30 p.m. We're excited to be returning to one of our favorite spots...
Theme: Our Without Green, There is No Blue!
Event Sponsor
As you've noticed lately, Annapolis Green is getting good at trash and recycling. We're focusing on this because what we do on land has major impact on our waterways, including The Bay. This week we are at the Keep America Beautiful National Convention becoming the Annapolis affiliate of the organization. This will help strengthen our programming and our efforts to unite the many groups that are working for the good of our environment. Read more about this amazing organization in the sidebar.
We'll also introduce you to Annapolis Green's new tagline "Keeping Annapolis Clean, Green and Beautiful" Uniting social responsibility - whether it be corporate or personal - with then environment.
Our February event, hosted by The Brick Companies in its amazing open-to-the-public facility at South River Golf will highlight the many opportunities that will begin in the Spring with clean-ups, plantings, and other projects as we bid adieu to snow and cold and head back outside... not a moment too soon!
More details coming soon! Save the date.

Comment Period Open on Draft Watershed Agreement
Nearly 30 years after the first multi-state Chesapeake Bay agreement was signed the Federal Chesapeake Bay Program is seeking comments on a new, draft plan. The draft is designed to "guide partners in the restoration of the Chesapeake Bay and recommit stakeholders to conservation success." It establishes new goals to address "water quality, fisheries and habitat, land conservation, public access and environmental literacy." The states that are signatories to the current agreement are Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia and Delaware. The District of Columbia is a signatory as is the Chesapeake Bay Commission and the EPA.
The comment period closes on March 17 and you can present your input at a meeting of the Management Board on March 13. Learn more.

Read CBF's New Report on Polluted Runoff
With the challenge of reducing urban and suburban runoff at the forefront of discussions at all levels of government, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) yesterday released a new report: Polluted Runoff: How Investing in Runoff Pollution Control Systems Improves the Region's Ecology, Economy, and Health. The purpose of this report is to shed light on the problem, debunk myths around the costs of solutions, and call for actions to be taken that will reduce the damage of polluted runoff. Read more and listen to our radio program, Living Green in Annapolis, with guest Tom Pelton, the report's author.

Clean Currents
We are very sad to tell you that on Friday one of our Founding One Hundred partners, Clean Currents, has ceased operations. The company sent out a statement that says, part, "We are writing to inform you, with deep regret, that the recent extreme weather, which sent the wholesale electricity market into unchartered territories, has fatally compromised our ability to continue to serve customers." We will find another power supplier from which we can buy renewable, clean energy, but we are sorry to see this local B-Corp close its doors.
