fun

Come to Green Drinks for Fun! Who said environmentalists aren't fun?

We've been having plenty of it monthly for almost seven years! Green Drinks Annapolis, it's

the fun side of eco-awareness... making serious connections.

And speaking of fun, we're glad to be back at the Met (last time was August 2011) where our hosts have agreed to let us "light up the holidays" at their lot next to Lemongrass. Watch as we lend our decorating wackiness to the area around those chickens! Oh, do stay tuned for our creation. Think of it as a preview to the EYC Lights Parade the following Saturday!

And we'll have live music from Andy Bopp!

learn

Come to Green Drinks to learn! Each month we have a theme... this month it's all about your energy choices!

Our event is sponsored by Clean Currents, a supplier of clean wind-powered energy. We're linking this to the holiday season by drawing attention to decorating with lights and what that means to your power bill.

Yes, we're collecting them for recycling! See below.

And you'll hear from our friends at Homestead Gardens who lit the Annapolis Christmas tree with LEDs and from the Annapolis Jaycees who did their traditional "hanging of the greens" downtown today, Dec. 7.

recycle holiday lights

Come to Green Drinks to recycle your working, your broken, your incandescent, yearning to be recycled...and out of the landfill!

energy-efficient LEDs
Bring in your incandescent light strings -- whether they work or not -- and My Organic Market (MOM's) will collect them for recycling. The incentive for you is that you'll receive a coupon to buy a new string at a discount online OR at our favorite local hardware store K&B True Value (a Founding 100 sponsor), at 912 Forest Drive.

The idea is to help you save money, save energy, and support these local businesses. Get the details on our website.

Come help us do more! Behind the fun of Green Drinks is Annapolis Green. We are growing and we need you! There are many ways to contribute and participate, especially before year's end so we can start 2014 with a bang!

Here's what's on our holiday wish list:

Festival and Event Greening - We're making our program  stronger, further helping area events and festivals to go Green, like our successful Red, Right Recycle effort at the Annapolis boat shows last fall. We're looking for sponsors for Greening events that fit their personal or corporate interest and philanthropic ethic. Look for our signature Eco-Stations at many places in 2014.

Keep Annapolis Clean, Green and Beautiful - Annapolis Green will become Maryland's second affiliate of the 60 year-old Keep America Beautiful national organization, increasing our ability to make a difference in our community.

Improvements Online - We have plans to improve our website, including going mobile, to make it easier for you to get the information you need to live a sustainable life.

Office Space! - We're hoping that 2014 will be the year when we can open an office that will really serve as our environmental community center -- Annapolis' Green House, if you will! It will be a place where we can gather to Connect, Communicate, Motivate, Accelerate and Celebrate good works.

LEDs Are Cheaper Than You Think!
Did you know you can get paid to save energy?

Upgrading the quality of your business or facility lighting doesn't mean breaking the bank, thanks to generous utility incentives funded by the EmPOWER Maryland Act. The majority of our recommended replacement measures have an expected payback of around two years or even less! And virtually all our projects can even be financed so they're cash flow-positive from the very first month.

Contact Zeronet USA - the commercial lighting division of Zerodraft Maryland - at 410-321-5930 for a free, no-obligation assessment of your small business or commercial lighting.
