Sherman's Lagoon Cartoonist Jim Toomey on Living Green in Annapolis Tonight

We never send out emails two days in a row, but we want to bring our radio program tonight, Living Green in Annapolis, to your attention because our special guest is renowned cartoonist Jim Toomey.

The creator of Sherman's Lagoon has joined the United Nations Environmental Programme in a series of six short videos titled
Two Minutes on Oceans with Jim Toomey. Tomorrow, right here in Annapolis, he will launch the fifth video in the series, this one on the topic of nutrient runoff.

Jim uses his unique characters, like Sherman the Shark and Hawthorne the Hermit Crab, to bring attention to serious issues like marine litter and climate change.

On our radio program, Jim, along with local experts from the Chesapeake Bay Program Office, will discuss these global issues, bring them home to us in the Chesapeake watershed and talk about what every one of us can to for the oceans and the Bay.

One of the videos addresses the value of the oceans to our lives and our global economy. We echo this in our Red Right Recycle! campaign's tagline: "For Clean Water and a Healthy Bay." We're delighted to be on the same page as the UN and Jim Toomey!

If you can't tune in this evening, you'll be able to hear the program from our website tomorrow: annapolisgreen.com/radio

The United Nations event will be held at the Severn Sailing Association (SSA) in Eastport, from 4 - 6:30 p.m. tomorrow. It is free and open to the public but you must RSVP. Read more.

 Cheers,

Elvia & Lynne

With the Boat Shows around the corner, Annapolis Green is in high gear with our Red, Right, Recycle! campaign to provide recycling to boat show patrons to raise awareness about Clean Water and a Healthy Bay... and to demonstrate that we in Annapolis care about these issues.
