Live Music by Kevin Kelley

We're returning to The Rockfish where our Green Drinks first started in 2006 with a jam-packed special Earth Day Evening! With several themes AND a few exciting announcements, it's going to be quite an evening!

In addition to learning about sustainability and stormwater treatment, and the new Leadership Anne Arundel Commercial Recycling Awards, at 6:15 p.m. we'll have an important announcement by Annapolis Alderman Jared Littmann.

We are excited to be part of the First Annapolis Beer Week, so you'll have the opportunity to sample some local and sustainably brewed beers!

We'll then ALL raise a glass to toast our BoatUS Foundation Grass Roots Grant! Don't miss out on all the fun and information!

Themes

Commercial Recycling

leadership anne arundelOur event sponsors, the 2013 Flagship Class of  Leadership Anne Arundel, will introduce its inaugural Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Award.  Aimed at recognizing and promoting Green leadership in Anne Arundel County, nominations will be in two categories: a locally-owned commercial business and a waste hauling company. The awards will be presented in June. The public will be invited to nominate a business that stands out for its commitment to recycling and sets the example for others to follow.  We're excited to help Leadership Anne Arundel kick off these awards! Come learn about the details!

Annapolis Beer Week
Green Drinks coincides with Annapolis Beer Week, a fun week of diverse beer-related events that will support week of diverse beer-related events that will support area charities, our community and local businesses while featuring craft beers. Green Drinks is one of the week's events -- featuring organically made or local beers -- and Annapolis Green is one of the benefiting non-profits!

Green Drinkers will have the opportunity to buy a flight, or a sampling, of the featured beers for $20, with $5 going directly to Annapolis Green! There is a lot more information about our event, including the five featured Green beers,  on our website.

Stormwater Retrofit

Our partnering organization, the Spa Creek Conservancy, and our hosts, The Rockfish, will present information about the long-awaited retrofit of the restaurant's parking lot to control stormwater runoff into Spa Creek. The Conservancy was awarded a grant to design a stormwater retrofit for the restaurant's large parking lot. The design includes porous concrete, rain gardens, air conditioning condensate collection, rain barrels, and other features that will lead to a cleaner Spa Creek. The restaurant will match the grant funds that will be obtained for construction. After several years of resolving permitting and other issues, the project is scheduled to begin this summer. It will be a model project in the Eastport neighborhood in the City of Annapolis.

We hope you'll spend your Earth Day with us and award-winning Rockfish Executive Chef Chad Wells who will be cooking up a terrific offering of appetizers to cap off the evening!

Take it all in this week!

Cheers,

Lynne & Elvia
