Top of the Line
We did it, thanks to you!
We came in among the top four in the voting and won a $10,000 grant from the BoatUS Foundation!
We didn't come in first in the voting, but it was the public engagement that put us on the decision makers' radar. Because so many of you Facebooked and Tweeted our campaign, we'll get the funds to accelerate recycling at the boat shows, create a toolkit for others who want to Green their own waterside events, and develop web-based, mobile-ready Green & Clean boating info for local & visiting recreational boaters.
Thank you so much for your support! We feel that this truly a community effort. We couldn't have done this without you. And now... we have to get to work! Yikes!
On the Horizon
Here we are on the "eve" of Green with St. Pat's day around the corner. Depending on your "shade" of Green, there's plenty to learn, do and enjoy in the next week or so. We'll highlight a few and offer a full list on our calendar. See below for news about:
- Green Drinks Wednesday at Homestead Gardens
- Our Greening of Maryland Day
- Project Clean Stream

And on to March in the Garden!
Green Drinks Annapolis
Wednesday, March 20
5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Homestead Gardens
743 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville
What would March Green Drinks be without our annual pilgrimage to our very own Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville!
Great Location
It will be lovely to be among the flowers next week during Homestead's annual open house, appropriately, on the first day of Spring,
Our theme and Homestead's is "Cherish the Chesapeake." More than a local treasure, the Chesapeake is lifestyle. We will celebrate Homestead's 40th year, its commitment to being a leader in our local Green economy and explore and learn how we all can do the same in our gardening, landscaping and living by the Bay. Learn more about Homestead's efforts.
This Open house will be going on all week. We encourage you to check out the terrific schedule that includes our very own Rita Calvert teaching us more about Sustainable Agriculture and its Importance. Read more
Great Food
Our catering partners are Honey's Harvest Market & Deli, a part of Herrington on the Bay Eco-Lifestyle Resort and Mills Fine Wine & Spirits. We're looking forward to Honey's sustainable appetizers and
Mills' selections of local wines and beers.
Great Partners
Our sponsor this month is also a fabulous fit -- our friends from the Chesapeake Bay Trust. And the first thing we think about with CBT is the iconic Bay Plate. Do you have a bay plate? Do you know how this works and the projects that result from the funds raised by the plates?
We're putting on a Bay Plates Challenge. On Wednesday Night we're going to see just how many we plates we can get to fill up the Homestead parking lot. For all those that do drive in with one -- take a pic (or just tell us) -- and you'll be put into a drawing for a prize. And for those of you who want one ... we'll be able to help you with that too, right on the spot!
Our Partnering Organization is is the Anne Arundel Watershed Stewards Academy -- the army of volunteers working in their own neighborhoods on projects that really do make a difference! Look for the yellow tee-shirts and get to know the stewards from your own neighborhood.
And finally, we'll have a number of exhibits from a terrific group of folks and organizations you'll want to meet as you get ready to tackle your springtime planting and gardening.
Green Drinks strives to bring the environmental message to new audiences, so bring along your friends, colleagues, family... everybody... to March's Green Drinks Annapolis at Homestead Gardens, on March 20.
As always, it's free with a cash bar in the form of a donation (soft drinks available), and no RSVP is required. Want meet a lot of people? Volunteer to help out with Green Drinks. You'll have a of fun doing so. Just send us an email.
