Top of the Line
We've got two big messages for you:
- Vote for Annapolis Green so we can win a $10,000 grant
- Come to Green Drinks on Wednesday to learn about Project Clean Stream, network, mingle, and enjoy great music & appetizers in a lovely setting
First to the Vote, that is, "Rock the Bote!"
Annapolis Green is a finalist in a competition to win a $10,000 Grassroots Grant from the BoatUS Foundation. The winner will be determined by which organization gets the most votes between now and March 6.
We plan to use the funds to: 1) accelerate our recycling efforts at the Annapolis Boat Shows - the biggest outdoor events held in downtown Annapolis; 2) develop the practices into a toolkit that can be used by any group wanting to run a Green waterside event; and 3) create a mobile-ready website for visiting and local boaters to encourage a Green boating practices.
Annapolis Green needs votes! You can
vote once a day, every day until March 6.
Annapolis Green is the only mid-Atlantic organization in the competition. Support the hometown team, your environmental champions, Annapolis Green. Vote once a day, every day!
(Thank you to Wendy Marxen & Meghan Matthews for the campaign slogan and graphic!)
This Wednesday, Feb. 27

The Golf Club at South River
3451 Solomons Island Road, Edgewatercomplimentary appetizers * cash bar * live music 50/50 putt for green * plan to stay for dinner
We're bringing our "fun side of eco-awareness... making serious connections" to the very Green, brand-new Bistro Great Room at the Brick Companies' Golf Club for our networking happy hour for those who are passionate about the environment. Our hosts, the Brick Companies, are one of the area's pioneering and leading sustainability businesses. Read more on our website.
The theme of this Green Drinks is "Have a Green Heart." Show that you do by supporting Annapolis Green, showing some love for our environment through Project Clean Stream, and getting to know one another better to discover what we all bring to environmental work close to home. Green Drinks this month is being sponsored by the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, and the event will focus on building a groundswell of participation in the Alliance's Project Clean Stream, a watershed-wide clean up event to be held on or near the date of April 6 at more than 200 sites from New York to Virginia.
We want to get your Green hearts all "pumped up" to do your part for just one day to help clean up a waterway in your neck of the woods. Get your hands dirty! Businesses, neighborhood associations, clubs... all can participate. In the next few weeks we'll have more information on how you can find a nearby group to join in their clean-up or how you can start your own. Let's show some love to our waterways! We'll have live music at Green Drinks -- the Fiddle Oaks. The band masquerades during the day as employees of the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. If you went to last year's Taste of the Chesapeake, you heard their fabulous country-bluegrass-bluesy sound. We are so excited to have them join us! 50/50 Putt Green for Green Contest As you come in you'll see the signs. Give it your best shot and enter the 50/50 Putt for Green Contest. For just $5 try to sink your putt on the Green and enter to win 50% of the proceeds. The other half will go to further Annapolis Green's work in bringing the sustainability message to the Annapolis Area.
The Bistro at South River is open to the public for dining. Do plan to stay for dinner and enjoy their offerings.
Green Drinks strives to bring the environmental message to new audiences, so bring along your friends, colleagues, family... everybody... to February's Green Drinks Annapolis!
Don't forget your name tags and handouts for our environmental information table.
As always, it's free with a cash bar (soft drinks available), and no RSVP is required. See you Wednesday. Cheers,
Elvia & Lynne

Cork Recyling: Still Moving
We're up to 58 pounds of corks and growing! That's how much of this recyclable material we've kept out of the landfill -- thanks to you. The corks will be made into shoes, flooring and other materials instead of being lost in a landfill. So keep it up! And don't be shy... ask your friends and favorite bar or restaurant to turn the corks over to you for our campaign. Bring us your corks and we'll put them to good use!
