4:30 - 6 p.m.
Miller Conference Room
Miller Senate Building

11 Bladen Street
Info & RSVP Here

We've teamed up with the Citizens' Campaign for the Environment, a coalition of organizations that will hold the 19th Annual Maryland Environmental Legislative Summit next Tuesday. The Summit gets people talking and that's where we come in!

Attend the Summit, then immediately following join legislators and staff, businesspeople, local and Federal government officials, scientists, environmentalists, your colleagues, and interested citizens who want to Continue the Conversation in a relaxed way over a cocktail at Green Drinks!

Our Honorary Legislative Host on the House side will be Delegate Steve Schuh (one of our Founding 100 sponsors) and we're hoping to announce the Honorary Senate Host shortly.

We tried to keep Green Drinks as close to the Senate Building as possible ... Stroll down Main Street or take an all-electric eCruisers vehicle, providing free Green rides from the Miller Building to O'Brien's for your convenience. Thank you, Russell Rankin!

chesapeake legal alliance The Chesapeake Legal Alliance will sponsor our Summit After-Party event. Thank you!

Holding Green Drinks at O'Briens is not only a way to celebrate the fact that this restaurant is moving toward sustainability -- it is also a nod to the history of its venerable building which goes back to 1774! Then, as the Rose & Crown, the tavern was a local gathering spot for both Royalists and Revolutionaries -- and now Green Drinkers! Read more.

During Green Drinks, O'Brien's will offer local beers including Heavy Seas Loose Cannon and Flying Dog, and is working on  organic wine options. As for complimentary appetizers... Stay tuned!

Please stay for dinner in O'Brien's newly revamped dining area. There will be an incentive to stay for dinner: 20% off locally sourced seafood that's featured on the menu!

And O'Brien's is Going Green. See our website for more info on their Green initiatives.

Don't forget your name badge if you have one and remember that we'll start an hour later than usual to accommodate attending the Summit.

See you Tuesday and be ready for some good conversation!

About Environmental Legislation

The League of Conservation Voters provides daily updates on the environmental issues being considered in the General Assembly.  These are the hot topics:
  • Clean Water Healthy Families
  • Offshore Wind
  • Marcellus Shale - Hydraulic Fracturing
  • Smart on Pesticides: Maryland - For Safe Water and Healthy Kids
Click here for more information on these topics and others, including legislation to put a deposit on bottles and cans and charge for plastic and paper bags in stores.

Another way to stay informed is to listen to our weekly radio show, Living Green in Annapolis. Our last program was an overview of the legislation and our next one will focus on offshore wind and fracking. That will be followed by a program focused on the pesticide issues.

To hear the next show live, tune in at 6 p.m. to WNAV -- 1430 AM or 99.9 FM in the city. The show is also streamed live from wnav.com. All of our programs are archived on our website,  www.annapolisgreen.com/radio.

This will be a critical year for clean air and water. Do stay informed on bills to be presented and issues to be discussed and to do your part for the environment and our communities by letting your legislators know how you feel about strong environmental policy. If you're not sure who represents you, find out at this website.
